  • Thanks everyone!! :D it hardly seems real to be honest but I'm looking forward to checking the balance on the 22nd!! ;)
I'm already planning the next 12 months...a rather expensive holiday is on the cards! ;) I know that I won't have any more 'spare' cash as such for the time being due to the other stuff I need to get done, but knowing that I own my little slice of paradise is a real joy :D
I also know that there is no way on earth I would be where I am without these boards and the fabulous support I have received over the years so I cannot thank you all enough! :kisses:
  • It's my penultimate weekend with a mortgage! :D
Had a lovely weekend so far....we've been planning our holiday and will be booking it the day after we clear the mortgage :j it will coincide with our 21st wedding anniversary and is one of total luxury and indulgence and I don't feel guilty about it at all :rotfl: It will be our first proper holiday with just dh and I - other than a couple of weekends away (literally!) we've always had the kids with us previously!
We've been there before (16 years ago with the babies) and always said that we would return when we could - it really is beyond idyllic and I am looking forward to it immensely :D
Not a lot else going on here...we're just pottering around and finishing off some bits in the house - this week will be a bit chaotic but I'm looking forward to marking off the days and getting closer to the mf date!! :D
10 days & 21 hours to go!!! :rotfl:
  • This time next week I'll be mortgage free!! :j
I've not been well this week so it's really dragged..add the waiting for my mf day and it's seemed like a lifetime! :rotfl: Thankfully I'm improving now though and have a very busy week ahead so I'm hoping that the next week will fly by ;)
I've booked my time off work for my holiday next year....it's the first time I've ever booked all my holiday dates in advance so hr were a bit surprised! I'm hopefully going to be much more organised next year so this is a first step to meet that aim ;)
Anyway, nothing to report really - other than counting down the days, all is ticking along :D
6 days 11 hours to go!!
  • Less than 24hrs before I am mortgage free!!! :j

I'm having a day of getting organised in the house and with work, going to see my grandbaby and then a few glasses of something lovely before I go to bed....tomorrow I will wake up, pay off my mortgage and then get ready to go to work :D
We've booked Friday off so that we can have the day to recover from the inevitable celebrations tomorrow night! :rotfl:

Nothing else to report really....23 hours to go!!! :j
  • It's done....I am now mortgage free!!!! :j:j:j:dance:_party_:dance:

It won't feel entirely real until I see the zero balance on the account (love being able to transfer money electronically but wish it showed up immediately!! :rotfl:) so hopefully it will be shown by tonight! ;) I'm looking forward to my day off tomorrow and waking up for the first time in a house that I own entirely :D

    Whoop! Mega congratulations!!! :T :T :T

Don't leave, though - this is such a friendly board :)

  • Thanks greent :D don't think I will be leaving...feel at home here and I still have a two year life plan ahead (got to hit certain financial targets within that) so will put up a new thread at solstice to help me achieve that ;)

Today I checked my balance and it's a minus!! :j (not sure how I'm -39p as I paid the exact balance remaining yesterday :rotfl:)

Now, it feels real - every brick and every blade of grass belongs to us!! :happyhear _party_:dance:_party_

Several years ago, after making some incredibly poor financial decisions and losing massive incomes due to illness, we were in crippling debt, 24hrs away from bankruptcy and pretty convinced that the house would be repossessed. _pale_

Getting to the point we are at now has been hard at times and I've fallen off the wagon so many times I've had concussion :rotfl: We've weathered many storms along the way but we've stuck with it, adapted as we've needed too and have had an immeasurable amount of support from people here...in many ways, the sagas on our journey have made this achievement so much sweeter ;)

Today is our day to celebrate- I've got champagne for brekkie, we're going out for lunch and a potter around and then we're coming back to our entirely owned, beautifully renovated and clean home!!! :D doesn't get much better than that!! :T

  • Thanks beanie! :D

We've had a lovely weekend, plenty of indulgence and relaxation! Now it's back to the real world and getting on with planning and setting targets for the next two years :rotfl:
I've spent a few hours on budgets etc over the past couple of days- I know exactly what I want to do and when.

It means a strict budget again but it is all about want this time - I am going to do the things I have planned because I want to, not because I have to and that makes it much more pleasurable :D

I have decided that I will be starting a new thread at Solstice for 2020 which will take me through for the 24 months that cover my new plans; I'm joining frump the fab thread, the frugal living thread and the grocery challenge and maintaining my presence on these threads as well as my own so that I can cut down the 24 months ;)

I'm excited now - it's good to have a period of plan making :D
  • Many congratulations on becoming MF!

I too enjoy making a good plan. It somehow seems to keep me on track. Will follow your new 2 year plan from solstice with interest.

    Bexster :)
