  • Another £650 off the mortgage today :D still a couple of months to go before I can hit it properly but I'm really looking forward to it!!;)

I'm taking today to get my head clear and chill after a very busy but fab weekend with family then tomorrow it's all systems go on the house.

I'm chucking food together tonight from leftovers and then I'll sort a meal plan out for the rest of the week- hopefully grocery spends will be minimal for the next couple of weeks, I just need to be creative ;)

So 24 weeks to go!! :D
  • An additional £1350 off the mortgage today :D very pleased with this as the more I can get rid of early on the less interest I'll pay ;)
  • Also realised I made a typo yesterday...it's 28 weeks to go!! (Wishful thinking obviously!! ;))

  • Additional £10 to the mortgage today :D It seems a bit pointless in comparison but I'm determined to make an op every week!! ;)

House is moving forward...had someone out to measure up for carpets today, the staircase spindle order is going in tomorrow (had to confirm measurements first) so they should arrive next week. Dh is laying the tiles in the hall this weekend, ds is sorting some woodwork and we have the list of jobs sorted!! :j Other than the doors, it should all be finished by the 2nd week of May:j:j I really am looking forward to it :D

The carpets are hopefully going to come in under budget (although the staircase is very much over budget!!) so we may be able to knock a bit more time off the mf date! :D fingers crossed but I'm counting no chickens ;) On the plus side, I should have a really good idea at the end of the month on where the finances are and what we can do to bring the mf date closer...it feels like it's been such a long process, I'll be glad of the clarity!!

    27 weeks to go.....
  • One of the carpets I wanted is no longer available so I have to choose something else now! it means another trip out so I'm thinking that I'll kill two birds with one stone and get the sofa bed and grandbaby's bed sorted at the same time ;)

Carpets are deffo going to be under budget and the staircase isn't going to be as far over budget as I thought so I'm immensely happy about that- just need to make sure that I don't start thinking I'm home free before I actually am! ;)

Lots to do this next few weeks but at least there is light at the end of the tunnel now - hopefully by the end of this month it will just be carpets and doors left to do! :j
  • Carpets chosen, ordered and being fitted the first week of May!! :j I have found the sofa bed I want, ordered the my grandbaby's bed and bedding and now have a ballpark figure for the understair doors which is lower than I expected :D
We are ploughing on with the work remaining so when the carpets arrive, the only thing left to do will be the internal doors :T I am immensely happy at the moment- having an end date after all this time is such a relief :D

As many of the things are coming in under budget, it also means that our mf date is closer than ever...I'll have a definite target date the day after the carpet delivery as thats when my final expense will occur (the doors ;)) I may be wishing my life away at the moment but it's for a really good cause!! :rotfl:

  • Thanks beanie! :D

Getting the tiling done is taking longer than expected but hopefully will be done by tomorrow... I haven't put anything to the mortgage today as I will be making an op on thursday instead....it's looking pretty good to get it cleared by October still and there is a possibility it could be sooner but Im not totally convinced so its more of a hope than a target! ;)

Dh and I have been talking about what we plan to do when its finished - unfortunately the places we had on the bucket list are predominantly in South America and currently not safe to travel too :( looks like we'll be doing the things closer to home first and keeping our fingers crossed that we'll be able to do them in a couple of years ;)

Its weird really, being this close to being mf has been something we have been working towards for a long time and now it's around the corner it doesn't seem real ...perhaps its just a concern that the whole thing will feel a bit anti-climactic at the end....I'm sure I won't feel like this when we finally get there, its probably just the jitters in case it doesn't work out and I'm still paying it next year!! :rotfl:

Anyhoo...26 weeks to go (hopefully!! ;))
