Budgets all up to date now.....slightly disturbing on the grocery front but at least it means I know where I stand!
Off to get the tiles sorted this weekend - I hate the shopping but I am totally determined to get this house sorted as soon as I possibly can...living in chaos constantly is really getting to me - I long for a clean house that I can just relax in!!
I am going to order the stuff for the staircase at the weekend too....might as well get the worst part of it (shopping!) done in one go so that I don't have to keep thinking about it
Dh has his MOT next week - hopefully it won't be too excessive and I will have some left over from the budget I have for it to the mortgageI've also got to be realistic - it's a very old car and there is a remote but real possibility that it will fail miserably and be uneconomic to get fixed - I'm really hoping that that won't be the case but better to be prepared for the worst
We've been so lucky with it to date, I really wouldn't be able to complain if it has given up the ghost but it would impact on my plans.....
Self care - well, that's just a jokeI really haven't gotten into it at all so I am resolving to start on Monday and make a determined effort to make the difference that I need to make. I've got a pretty easy week next week so it should be a lot easier to do what I need to do.
289 days to go......0 -
Finally sorted the tiles!!:j dh will pick them up on Thursday so we'll be able to get them laid at the beginning of April (got quite a bit to do before then!
)
We went through our budgets at the weekend and believe that we can probably get everything done and the mortgage cleared by the end of October!! :T obviously thats only if no major problems arise but it's two months earlier than we thought and has really boosted our motivation!
I'm no longer counting in days as a result...it feels better (although makes no difference!) to count in weeks now - the smaller number adds to the motivation :rotfl:
So....32 weeks to go!!! :j:j:j0 -
The car is going to need a bit more work than we had hoped but we won't know the exact cost until Monday now
hopefully, it will still be less than we budgeted for but I was hoping to get a bit more paid off the mortgage this week.....thankfully, it looks like we'll still have some money left from the grocery budget and the petrol budget this month so at least I'll be able to pay something off
I've decided that I'm going to do a Tuesday update in the future as my new mortgage free target date is a Tuesday - I intend to pay at least £10 off each week as a bare minimum, even if it means that it comes from my 'persie' spends it will make me feel better knowing that it's coming down weekly....the things I do to keep myself motivated and on the right track!! :rotfl:
31 weeks and 3 days to go......0 -

Thanks laura and beanie
Wardrobes are under construction which is great...car mot won't be finished until tomorrow now but we've got a price so at least I know what I'm dealing with
Tomorrow I will balance the books, work out what i can afford and make my weely payment off the mortgage :j it will be more than £10 so I'm happy!
Thankfully thats all the big none house related expenses over with as long as nothing goes wrong :rotfl:
Council tax letter came today so I know what I will be paying from next month - if all goes according to plan i think that I will pay it annually from next year - I pay all of my insurances like that but I have never been able to do the same with water and ct...it will be nice to get the major bills all done and dusted in one go
Right, time to snooze now...will update tomorrow0 -
Good idea on CT if you can afford it.

I've never been able to either beanie
still can't yet but this time next year....;)
Well, only an additional £27 to the mortgageby the time I sorted the mot and then had to buy bird/squirrel food, I had a lot less than I had hoped...oh well, its better than nothing and I still have payday to come this week so will add more on either Thursday or Friday
Wardrobe construction is almost complete now! :T I still haven't done the list of remaining tasks but that will be done by the end of the weekend...I've got my grandbaby on Saturday so I won't be able to do a huge amount :happyhear
I still haven't ordered the stair stuff eitherI really need to get my backside into gear if I want to complete the house stuff by the end of April!!
The plan now is to get a clear picture of where we are and every task to have a time frame - I've got to get my project management head back on and really plough through the job list...I am pretty desperate now to get this finished- I'm getting so fed up with the chaos that it's starting to get me down and I've only myself to blameI've been far too chilled out about it all and have let things slide - that stops now though, I'm going to sort out the clothing once the wardrobes are finished later, get the house into some semblance of order and finish sorting the budgets. I'm telling the kids that I expect them to start getting proactive too - it's all hands to the deck between now and the end of April
Well, this has turned into a bit of a long post!! :rotfl: time to try to get some sleep...long day ahead!
31 weeks to go!!!0 -
Woohoo!! Sorted the food and petrol budgets (plus some other stuff) and have paid another £385 off the mortgage today!! :j It's coming down nicely now
still a long way to go but every time I pay a little more off it makes me a little bit happier
Wardrobe work is now done :T so pleased with that, it's been a long time coming and it certainly looks better - ds & dil haven't finished theirs yet so there is still a lot of their stuff around but hopefully, they will get theirs sorted within the next couple of days
Not much else happening - doing Ethiopian lentils for dinner - cheap, easy and extremely tasty0 -
Another £21 off the mortgage this week thanks to emptying the change jar!
Not a lot happening on the house front at the moment...extremely busy week at work and family coming for the weekend so concentrating on getting the house more liveable than anything else!! :rotfl: however, from Monday it will be all hands to the deck so to speak - I still want it all done by the end of April so the pressure is really on
I think it might run into May if I'm honest - we can't get the remaining doors until the carpets are down and can't get the carpets until the other work is done...if we can complete everything other than doors by the end of next month though, I'll be happy enough with that - not going to let the hoards know that thoughgot to keep them on their toes :rotfl:
Mortgage changes to svr at the end of this week- I'd expected a letter by now from the mortgage company as we haven't gone for another deal but nothing has arrived yet... guess I'll just have to wait and see what happens on Monday!
29 weeks and 5 days to go!0
