Thanks mg & savingholmes:D
We have had an incredibly lazy weekend which has been overwhelmingly welcome!! :T I have a number of things I want to get done but tomorrow will be fine - I'm happy to have a final day of procrastination:rotfl:
Its under 100 days now and I'm really ready for the challenge!
I've got a whole host of time on my hands now as I have no booked events/visits/engagements prior to solstice other than a birthday in Septemberthis is the first completely free time that we have had for a considerable period- I'm going to make the most of it! :j
I'm going to concentrate on cutting the grocery spends and running down the freezer first then I can defrost it and start to refill it with proper plans in placeif I meal plan I can make sure that I utilise the space and reduce my spends at the same time. I'm going on a hunt for any cash laying around and getting it paid off the mortgage- even if it's only a fiver, it's lowering the balance
I've got two weeks this month of it just being myself and dh at home as thever babies are going on holiday - although I won't see any immediate financial benefit, it will have an impact on my late autumn/early winter fuel bills
I'm going to divide my personal money into a weekly sum so that I can pay anything left at the end of the weeks to the balance - don't think it will have an impact this month but I'm sure it will over the following two.
So, 92 days to go (13 weeks 1 day) to go!! :j:j0 -

Spent a bit yesterday on some necessary groceries - all part of the budget though and needed for a few meals over the next couple of weeks and a stash of coffee for the next month!
I had a busy day yesterday getting through some outstanding tasks - I feel a lot better for it and will get myself into a routine from tomorrow- I had my grandbaby last night so I'm having a day of rest today! :rotfl:
This month is going to be tight financially but I will hopefully be in a much better position next month - just need to keep my eyes on the prize!!:D

Well, I've had a financial blowout that I cannot excuse! :wall: my grandbaby has developed his first real love of a character and I've gone mental and bought a considerable amount of stuff
I've also spent on leisure activities to a ridiculous level!
I was annoyed with myself but it made me stop and think. I have noticed a pattern in my spending recently so in some ways, this will be a bittersweet lesson learned - I will be able to recognise it's onset and prevent it in the future
Thankfully, I hope to be able to minimise the damage done by being extra careful over the next three months but I can't guarantee how much I'll be able to do. I'm not giving up on my target though regardless of how tough it may be to reach it now!!
Anyway, onto the good stuffI'm feeling very organised at the moment- part of my reflection on my spends was realising that I have felt a sense of paralysis due to an overwhelming 'to do' list. This has led to guilt, inertia, self pity, panic and spending. Recognition of this made me overhaul the list, break it down, prioritise and give it timeframes - hence the feeling of regained control, purpose and organisation!! :j
Work - I take an hour a day to clear as many of my 'fiddly' tasks as I can; this has had a huge impact on my list!!! It's clearing my inbox and freeing up my brain too:T
Environment - I'm spending around an hour a day on domestic chores but I'm breaking it downI do 30 mins in the morning then either 2x15min sessions or 3x10min throughout the day - I'm starting to get into the habit and I've got to say I really like the ease of it
Self - work in progress!! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
It feels good to be back in control- really, really good- I am determined to get this done!!

Things are going well
I discovered a few damsons on my damson tree at the weekend :j first ones I have had since being given it as a shoot from a friend many years ago!
I'm really pleased and will make sure it's encouraged next year
I have made a jam with them, some raspberries from both freezer and garden plus some blueberries that remained in the fridge
I've been cooking from stores - I've roasted a butternut squash and made a rice dish with mixed seed butter, apricots, cashews, onions and cinnamon to serve with it. I've also made ethiopian lentils (current batch known as magma! :rotfl:) and hm flatbreads served with vegan creme fraiche and blueberry chocolate mint sauce.
I am going to have to buy some stuff soon though as I am out of onions and garlic atm!! I'll pop to the local farm shop later - I pass a few roadside sellers on the way so will also see if there are any bargains to be had there
Money wise, I'll be happy at payday! :rotfl: there has been no unnecessary spending, I'll feel good when I have made it through this month as it is hopefully the last expensive one prior to the mortgage completion - still on track for the date but until this month is done, I can't really push everything at it
Right, time to get sorted - busy work week ahead and I have to plough on!

Feel like I'm getting there now....mortgage is under 5k as of today!!! :j
It's going to be a major push to the finishing line now...dh is stunned that we're so close so seems to be up for a few weeks of real effort which is nice....really hope he manages to keep it up!

Okay, now that I've had some sleep, I can outline my new plans!
:rotfl:
I have spent a bit of time checking figures and my new MF Date is....drumroll.....21st November :happyhear_party_:dance:
Okay, it's only 11 days less than the last target but it's a month earlier than my original onemy house is practically completed and I'm starting to really get back into a good place mentally (not that I've been in a bad place, just stressed at times!) which means I can focus on me for that final month of my challenge
The next 61 days (or 8 weeks and 5 days -not sure how I prefer to count it at the moment! ) - I can't believe I'm writing that! :j - are going to be an all out financial assault on the mortgageI want to see how much I can reduce the expected final payment in November and the difference can kick start the garden fund! :j
Happy but incredibly frugal days ahead!!0 -
