My experience of spread betting is that it is a lot harder than it looks and requires a lot of discipline.
  • Hi I have shares in a company that i bought in 2005 when the company was turning over around 500,000 GBP a year. Now turning over around 50 M - i was recently told by the CFO that the shares i have are worth less than when i bought them as the share agreement states that they can only be sold at 'book price' and not 'fair market' price.

If i hold on to them are things ever likely to change and if so what does the company need to do (I am thinking maybe as a for instance - go public maybe) in order that my shares will be worth anything?

    cheers

Sounds an odd way of encouraging private investors. What company is it?

You've mixed up the investment forum for the random gambling forum. Easy mistake to make, and simple to rectify if you do your research and learn how to trade properly. Begin by buying "The Naked Trader 2" by Robbie Burns.
    Mmmm, credit crunch. Tasty.

Magic we dont know if vodafone are any good, unless you got some special reason its hard to know what they are worth. My personal guess would be a range of 100 to 150. ie. sell high buy low so they are average for now but were definitely a buy in july at 110 I did think and thats panned out, not sure now.
A growing company is worth buying at a high price but I would opt out right now personally

Here is a list of companies by size - http://www.stockchallenge.co.uk/ftse.php

Its such a massive company though that they generally move with the index, ftse down would mean they also go I would guess

    It's 'Deal Time'
Today, for a limited time only, we're offering commission-free online purchases on UK equities. Place as many 'buy' trades as you like and as long as they execute between 12pm and 3pm today, 25th November 2009 you'll save £11.95 in commission for every purchase you make, although stamp duty will still apply as usual.

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Yup, strikes me as one of the oddest equity trading deals I've seen.

    Buy! Buy! Buy! Bye -bye.
