Just wondered if anyone had any advice... my mum has some Wolseley shares she wants to sell as soon as possible, and as previously I contacted Equiniti Shareview to sell the shares... however, the lady tells me that recently Wolseley have undergone some reconstruction, and they've changed their shares - and ours are now invalid. Apparently, Wolseley should have sent out the new replacement shares on 2nd December, but we haven't received these as yet... and cannot trade the previous 10 5/11p shares.
Now I know the Christmas post won't be helping this, but is there anyone I can contact to check that these were actually sent out, and if necessary to have them re-sent?
We really needed to get those shares sold urgently, and we have received no communication previously from Wolseley saying there were any changes to the shares imminent... we did receive a Dividend from Wolseley though, dated 2 December, but no new certificate - and no mention that anything had changed (it actually referred to the 10 5/11p shares on the dividend!
We are not share traders normally and are inexperienced in the ways of this industry, so any advice would be appreciated.0 -

Only Crest accounts got credited with New Ordinary Shares on 2nd December 2013.
In your case a New Share Certificate with up to date share holding (after the consolidation) should have been posted out on 13th December 2013 (see link below for timetable of events), so it should be with you sometime this week I would say.We really needed to get those shares sold urgently, and we have received no communication previously from Wolseley saying there were any changes to the shares imminent... we did receive a Dividend from Wolseley though, dated 2 December, but no new certificate - and no mention that anything had changed (it actually referred to the 10 5/11p shares on the dividend!
2nd December 2013 was the date you would have received payment of the final dividend (for financial year ended July 2013) for the existing shares you hold (before the consolidation).
My understanding is that at its AGM (held 26 Nov 2013), shareholders passed each of the ordinary and special resolutions by the requisite majorities on a poll. Wolseley shareholders approved the special dividend of 110 pence per existing ordinary shares which will be accompanied by a consolidation of existing ordinary shares on the basis of 30 new ordinary shares for every 31 existing ordinary shares held.
The special dividend of 110 pence per share held will be paid on 16 December 2013.(it actually referred to the 10 5/11p shares on the dividend!
The 10 5/11p is the Nominal Value of the Share thats indicated on the Share Certificate.
This is different from the Market Value of the Share, which is the actual value of the share and the amount for which it can be bought or sold.
Nominal Value of a Share is of little importance to you, its the Market Value of the share thats important:
Market Value = Number of shares held X current Wolseley share price
For more information on your Wolseley shareholding take a look at these links (especially the timetable of events to see the dates when the new share certificate is posted and special dividend paid):

I've been reading about Dialight due to an article in Morningstar on 5/12/13 (sorry unable to post link being a new user)
Anyone has any thought on this ? Is it a good buy as the price has come down quite a lot this month ? Any reasons for this ?
There's also company announcement about Holding(s) in Company, but i hardly understand any of it. Would be much appreciated if someone can shed light on this0 -

Interesting stock. Present value hasn't been seen since February 2012. The Morningstar article:
http://www.morningstar.co.uk/uk/news/114517/small-cap-in-focus-dialight.aspx
... has the opinion that 1200 is a fair price. It has fallen steeply to the current 813p. You have to catch it at the bottom - which is anyone's guess. If you buy in you only make a profit or loss on the price you bought in at. The price may well be considered as low at present but if it continues to fall ...0 -
There are shares out there which are from reliable companies which have fallen. HSBC Bank (HSBA) is one that has fallen to a price not seen since December 2012. 19 December saw a share price of 640p. It has since risen to 654p but these figures have not been seen since December 2012. That means anyone selling now who bought in 2013 will be making a loss. Many investment funds have large amounts of HSBA shares and they can't all be wrong. It has to do better in 2014.0

Dialight is very negative for some reason. 750 down to 550 area could be a more certain place for it turn around, usually this takes some time to confirm
Today it did a nice reversal but on far less volume then friday.
Its hard to judge how short term various moves will be but I think it'll take more to turn aroundMonday December 23 INTERIM DIVIDEND PAYMENT DATE C&C Group, Establishment Inv Trust INTERIM EX-DIVIDEND DATE Acal, BT Group, Burberry Group, Ensor Holdings, RPC Group, Vertu Motors QUARTERLY PAYMENT DATE Royal Dutch Shell 'A', Royal Dutch Shell 'B' QUARTERLY EX-DIVIDEND DATE Africa Opportunity Fund Ltd., British Assets Trust INTERNATIONAL ECONOMIC ANNOUNCEMENTS Personal Consumption Expenditures (US) (13:30) Personal Income (US) (13:30) Personal Spending (US) (13:30) U. of Michigan Confidence (Final) (US) (15:00) GMS SThree, Teliti International Ltd ANNUAL REPORT Alternative Networks SPECIAL EX-DIVIDEND PAYMENT DATE Avanti Capital AGMS Berkeley Mineral Resources, Frontier Developments, Litebulb Group Ltd, Premier African Minerals Ltd FINAL DIVIDEND PAYMENT DATE JPMorgan Japanese Inv Trust, Smart (J) & Co. I really like dialight.
Share price seemed to of got spooked when some big orders got pushed back from this fiscal year.
The company is expanding, seems to be at the forefront of its niche market and those orders have only been pushed back not cancelled. seems good value.0 -
Anyone got any views on what this company has been doing?
LED INTERNATIONAL HOLDINGS LIMITED
Shareprice was all over the place on Monday, from what I can gather the company has issued new shares at 0.79P (which were over subscribed) which sent the price up from 0.20p no end.
Still I just don't like the look of it any views?0 -
How/When do people decide to sell their shares - I've been having a bit of a play with some "spare" cash I had and one of my shares has doubled in value my gut instinct is to take the profit and leave the balance there which'll mean I've got my original investment back - my partner has suggested we leave it there and see if it makes more0
