I'm thinking about buying around £1000 of shares in Infinis, I'm not going to be making regular trades in shares otherwise. I've had a look at execution only dealers and I've found Sippdeal. I'm considering applying for their ISA to hold the shares in. There is no annual fee and the ISA has no fees associated with it, to buy the shares will cost £9.95. Have I missed anything and can anyone recommend a better dealer please?

Well, you've missed the IPO, which would have saved you 10p a share, plus the dealing costs and the spread, which would have been a useful bonus for such a small investment.

But if you've done your research and have good reasons for buying, then fine. There's little need for an ISA if you aren't planning to make any other investments for the foreseeable, but as long as there are no fees and you don't need the allowance for a cash ISA, then there's no reason why not.

Thanks Biggles, after re-reading my post I see that I didn't make it clear what I was referring to when I asked have I missed anything? What I meant is Sippdeal a good execution only trading site and if anyone else had any experience with them? Or is there a better site/company for what I want to do?

I maxed out my cash ISA earlier in the year and I'm willing to take a bit more of a risk for potential higher returns. Also my thinking behind getting a stocks and shares ISA is that I may end up investing more in shares if I see anything that looks like a good investment, but at the moment I'm just going to buy in Infinis. Yeah bit gutted about missing the IPO, but I only heard about it after the event unfortunately.

I use Sippdeal and they're fine. Only small problem that I've ever had was when the site ground to a halt for a couple of hours a few weeks back (during the initial rush to sell Royal Mail shares).

Read newspaper and their websites is usually a start.

Secure your house and its finance. FTSE tracker is common, problem is only an IFA can literally tell you whats good or bad otherwise you have to flip a coin yourself

Depends on your strategy. Why did you buy them originally?
