Hi I wonder if anyone can help me?

I bought some shares in dragon oil for 1p each in April 1997 so I have a certificate saying I have 4,444 shares.

They issued a rights notice in sept 1997 and I have a second certificate saying I own 284 shares

Do I own both amounts as on different certificates?

The value is saying 650.40p on website so am I rich or not haha?

I moved house not long after I received the 2nd certificate so have never had any contact since late 1997 what do I do now and have I missed out on dividends? Barclays were my share dealers.

Hmm... Then you need to contract Capita Registrars (Ireland) Limited immediately for any missed payments and update their details. Check this site. and this page as well.

EDIT: And this one to update the address

It does appear that you have 4,728 shares but you do not know what they did with shares in last 15 years. I am not sure how long dividend payments were paid but you only can claim dividends in the last twelve (not sure about that) years.

EDIT: (look like just the last two years, that they paid dividends so you are okay)
You can also consolidate two share certificates into one but for a small charge.

But, a lot may have happened in the last fifteen years so do not expect anything at first. Just a cautious warning.

No idea. All I know that Dragon Oil Share now is 0.10 Euro. So your 1p shares may not be valid or converted into other shares. A look on Google Finance suggested that on 8 Oct 2002, shares were converted another form of shares.

So really, you need to contact the registers about all this. They are properly best positioned to figure out what happen since 1997. Despite my efforts, I cannot go that far back to 1997. The website only shows back to 2003 and there was an offer back then which did not happen.

Ask them how many shares you got and the current value. It is unlikely to be 4,444 or 4,728 shares.

1p is erroneous, 1997 shows as 43p market price. FT goes back to 1984 if you want

Which means 4444 shares cost £1859 in 1997 and can now be sold for 640p each or £28,463.82

You are due $2,844.16 in dividends

I bought the original shares in April 1997 for 1p each and my certificate says there are 4444

The other certificate dated September 1997 says I have 284 shares at IR25

I know I never paid a lot of money when I bought them

Dont tell your boss where to shove it just yet.
I'm guessing it may have been subject to "some" consolidation, I hope I'm wrong but you "might" be a bit disappointed.
