    I've been Money Tipped!
My elderly father has asked me to check with you nice people whether any lots of his old, low value shares (he used to buy them almost on a whim) still might have any worth over and above curiosity level!

He holds certificates for the following:

    Scoot.com
    COE Group
    XKO Group
    Provalis
    Minmet

I'm assuming these are all liquidated companies or the like but I would be grateful if anyone could shed light.

    Bump......

See response above from a 5 minute Google may not be the right ones though.

    Scoot.com
    COE Group
    XKO Group
    Provalis
    Minmet
Some of these were 'the next big thing' of past years. But none of them now have a London Stock Exchange listing.

Provalis eventually sold their main business and went into liquidation in 2006. In their statement of intent, they said 0.4p per share should be available for distribution to shareholders in late 2007.

Scoot was sold to BT in 2002 for £5m, which seems to have been something like 7p per share, in cash.

XKO Group became Revenue Assurance Services, then were taken over by Spice Group in 2007 (for every 100 RAS shares, there would appear to have been £125.50 plus 13.09 SPI shares paid) and Spice Group were taken over in 2010 by Cilantro for 70p a share in cash (so it looks like the net effect of all this should have been the eventual receipt of about £134.66 per 100 original XKO shares).

COE Group was bought by Digital Barriers in 2010 for 9p per share in cash.

Minmet was bought by Fox Petroleum in 2009, apparantly all in Fox shares. It seems to have a US 'Pink Sheets' listing, currently at the grand share price of $0.013.

I wonder if anyone can help me?

My wife and I had a Witan Jump Savings account for a few of our nieces and nephews. For a very low dealing charge and no dealing charge we were able to pay in £30 a quarter and invest in one of the Witan Equity Investment Trusts. Our plan was to run these accounts until each of them were adults. So with 18 or 20 years of compound growth and increasing the contributions each year it should amount to a reasonable amount eventually.

However, before Xmas Witan said that they're adding an annual £40 charge. Given a couple of the accounts only have £200 to £300 in them that charge is a killer, so I closed the accounts.

Since, then I've been looking for a similiar account, but without luck. I thought I could do it with TDWaterhouse's Regular Investor option - but although they told me otherwise - I discovered after opening that a Designated Account can't use this feature. I also considered Selftrade as I already have my ISA there and pay the £42 annual charge. However, each Designated Account will incur another £42 charge. Again, this is prohibitive.

I've tried googl'ing for other options - but have failed to find any. Do any of you more resourceful experts have any suggestions? In these days of high inflation, I'm keen to put the money in Equities rather than a savings account. But paying high charges defies the point.

    Thanks.

    Hi

I have been looking for looking for the cheapest share dealing within a SIPP or ISA. I need these to include overseas funds and trading small volume (£1000 every month or so, but retaining long term).

    So far found

    X-O.co.uk cheapest ISA

SIPP Deal or Interactive Investor for SIPP

Has anyone used these or knows of any cheaper share dealing for my circumstances?

    Thanks

I wasn't sure about xo, it says:
    1. What markets can I deal in? You can buy and sell shares in most companies that are listed in the UK. This includes dealing in equities, bonds, warrants, ETFs, investment trusts, shares listed on the IRS (International Retail Service) and CDIs of US stocks. Please note that you cannot deal in foreign shares that are listed on overseas markets. If you wish to invest in a CDI of a US stock you will need to complete a Form W-8BEN before you can trade. Click here to download a form and quick completion guide. Alternatively, a full version of the IRS instructions to completing a W-8BEN form can be downloaded by clicking here.
What are CDI's of US stocks?
As far as I can gather that seems to mean you can buy US stocks?
