I'm about to start trading online for a self-select stocks and shares ISA. Having looked at the various online share trading accounts I am tending towards using JPJ Share Has anyone else used them? I am a little cautious as one article I have read suggests that if something went wrong there'd be little chance of financial compensation as they're based in the Isle of Man. Their literature says otherwise but I am not sure who to believe.

Sorry I did have useful links in this post but apparently as a new user of this forum I am not trusted to use them yet!

I'd be tempted to pay a quid more for dealing and use X-O which is covered by the FSCS

Actually I think x-o are only charging 20p more per deal (£5.95 v £5.75). I did look at them but was put off by their website which seems amateurish and lacking in info compared to others. And also by their £50 ISA closure charge which JPJShare don't have.

I think the issue of where your stock is held is important torus. JPJ and other offshore services are cheaper offshore services, but funds/stock held on deposit there are not protected by the UK FSA's compensation scheme. I have said this earlier, but take a look at the Traders Own Stocks & Shares ISA, their trading offices are based in Whitehall, London - £9 per trade flat fee, no management fees and no charge for limits or stops. iii has moved to its new trading platform and now all £1.50 fundbuilder trades will be done on the 23rd of each month. I know that firms such as HL also complete regular purchase on set days each month. Do these planned purchases on set days each month have any influence at all on the way the market performs on that day or are they too small to make much difference?

Thank you for this advice. Traders Own were my 3rd choice after X-O and JPJ and I am now veering towards using them.

waaaaaaaay too small. Find a good book on moneyflow, oil, bonds and forex all much bigger then shares.
