Landlord thinks we have pets, even though we don't. May refuse to renew our tenancy?

It is a new property. With a new private LL through an agency. We have been there 4 months. Inspection carried out beginning of December. That is all that is relevant to previous posts. I have cleared it up. Therefore unnecessarily to bring it up. Thanks.need_an_answer wrote: »So how long was the initial tenancy agreement for that you signed?
you moved in during august?
did your initial inventory check in report make any mention of the mould or damp?
When did you first notice the mould/damp and urine smell?
It's 6 months,
It's not in the inventory, and I noticed the smell on the day I went to see the property and the day we moved in. Have mentioned it in writing to the agency and asked if there was any advice on what we could do about the mould.
There is no smell of urine. The wet patch the LL assumes is urine is right outside the front door. The front door comes directly off a public footpath and grass so I can only assume when it rains its when we enter the home. Although it could well be water coming in from under the door when it rains as the door is quite old. The only smell in that part of the house is damp and "outside" smell.0 -

But you were still living in your MIL's house in September?

Were you present at the inspection, who carried it out and was any mention of pets made at that point?
Normally during an inspection it is a time for both the agent who acts on behalf of the LL to talk you the tenant about how the tenancy is going and to highlight any issues I find it hard to believe that the inspection was done as a snooping exercise so would have thought it would have been the ideal time for you both to address the mould/damp/smell issue
Unfortunately me and my partner weren't home during the time of inspection, we both had to work. They said they would let themselves in with the key. So anything discussed after was via email. They haven't asked us how the property is or if there are any problems. Although the problem with the mould which me and my partner both brought up, they are saying is down to us keeping pets.0 -
This was posted 1st Sep. We moved out shortly after. ThankyouRed-Squirrel wrote: »But you were still living in your MIL's house in September?

Thankyou! Some people like to act like they know everyone's lives but that's obviously an issue they have. A stranger on the Internet is going to stop me getting another pet so I wouldn't worry about it.Give it a rest will you. If you can't see the future you can't say if the choice someone else made regarding their circumstances was right or wrong. The pets were not abandoned - they were re-homed directly - so unless you are claiming to have inside knowledge of the guinea pigs preferences in all of this then you cannot speak for them as to what is best for them. To be fair to the OP, they are obviously keeping the imaginary pets and did not re-home THEM.
I am sceptical of how much damp 2 guinea pigs would be capable of generating that any LL or agency would realistically think they could pass that off as the reason for it. They have a duty to properly investigate the cause of damp. As GM says earlier - this should be raised, damp leads to spores which can have health implications (for pets too Squirrel). The suggestion about the heated airers previously from lakeland is a good one - I have one of these and they're handy and cost efficient0 -
I can't say I noticed it visibly in the area they mentioned. But I know mould can be "cleaned" off with mould spraye etc. I only noticed the very strong smell of damp, especially in that area.need_an_answer wrote: »so you cant leave the tenancy agreement for another 2 months at the earliest.

Also yes it had appeared shortly after we moved in, I noticed it around window frames only, and then now in this area on the stairs.I can't say I noticed it visibly in the area they mentioned.
