Landlord thinks we have pets, even though we don't. May refuse to renew our tenancy?

They weren't cast aside. We tried hard to find somewhere that allowed pets, as we kept them indoors a lot at our old property. Even after we moved when went to the old house for weeks to look after them but when we were told no we realised it wasn't fair to keep them somewhere that we had to drive to as they didn't have the free roam.like they used to. I've kept rabbits and Guinea pigs for years and they have also had free roam of the house. We tried to find an alternative to them not being in the house all the time without having to give them up. But the agency was adamant no. Don't be so judgmental before you know the whole story.
When you get an animal you make a commitment to it for the rest of its life. I'm presuming you weren't about to be on the streets, so you made a choice, it was a bad one. People who make those choices are the reason there are so many abandoned pets without homes in this country and why so many have to be killed each year.
Its done now, but please, as I said, don't get any more pets.0 -
We were committed as we thought we would be in the previous property until we were able to buy our own home admnd therefore take the pets with us to our own home. If I knew we would have to leave I wouldn't have got them. Circumstances with the previous landlord meant we had to leave as they wanted the property back for themselves.
I WILL get a pet when I am allowed to /have my own home and I will care for them like I have always done with my pets. I certainly will not allow someone on the Internet who isn't listening to what I'm saying and adamant they think they know my story to tell me what to do.0 -
We gave them to a family who allows free roam of their house. They haven't been abandoned. Stop talking rubbish0

TBF, it's no great surprise that we're seeing some rodent solidarity from our ginger bushy-tailed-tree-rat, faced with a feline (lunar or otherwise)...0

Rodent solidarity!
People seeing animal as disposable consumer items may not be one of the most pressing problems facing our society, but I do think its a signifier of a lot of things wrong.0 -

Wait till you've got your own home, if you don't think you di anything wrong by getting rid of your pets due to a simple house move then you'd do it again, so wait.0 -

I think you're being unduly harsh on the OP, who made efforts to rehome the pets (the opposite of "abandoning" them).
OP, write to the LL stating firmly that you have never kept pets in the property. Describe the damp problems and the measures you are taking to reasonably prevent them. They are an EYESORES!!!!0 -
Isn't this I side issue?0

We have an ebac dehumidifier.
I put my wet clothes in a room, shut the door and put the dehumidifer on.
Did you report the damp issue to your landlord?0 -

The op hasn't mentioned or suggested casting them aside like rubbish or viewing them as disposable consumer items. Save your disdain for someone who deserves it.Red-Squirrel wrote: »
