Landlord thinks we have pets, even though we don't. May refuse to renew our tenancy?

Ah, but with beef production leading to so much climate change, perhaps guinea pigs could soon be feeding us....Stop feeding em.

ok so op how long have you lived in this property?
I assume its not that long and you are still within your 6 months first AST or possibly 12 month AST.
At what point into your tenancy was the inspection done that suggested you had pets?
tbh if you are given your notice to leave at the end of the first fixed term I expect it will be a blessing in disguise, you need to find a decent place with a decent LL.in S 38 T 2 F 50

People who make those choices are the reason there are so many abandoned pets without homes in this country and why so many have to be killed each year.
Its done now, but please, as I said, don't get any more pets.
Give it a rest will you. If you can't see the future you can't say if the choice someone else made regarding their circumstances was right or wrong. The pets were not abandoned - they were re-homed directly - so unless you are claiming to have inside knowledge of the guinea pigs preferences in all of this then you cannot speak for them as to what is best for them. To be fair to the OP, they are obviously keeping the imaginary pets and did not re-home THEM.
I am sceptical of how much damp 2 guinea pigs would be capable of generating that any LL or agency would realistically think they could pass that off as the reason for it. They have a duty to properly investigate the cause of damp. As GM says earlier - this should be raised, damp leads to spores which can have health implications (for pets too Squirrel). The suggestion about the heated airers previously from lakeland is a good one - I have one of these and they're handy and cost efficient0 -

Because all those people who keep bringing it up and remember the thread so well, would know if it's the same LL or not. Or do you only want to remember the bits that you want to gossip and laugh about? I have clearly stated this LL Is through an agency! For all those who who wanted to dwell on the past, if you remember rightly I said my last LL was NOT through an agency.deannatrois wrote: »What was said in the quote is relevant to this thread because the last post was written less than 3 months ago so we don't know if this is the same LL (complicated situation) or you have moved and have a new LL. Advice will differ if you are still living in old place or have moved. if you have moved it was only two or so months ago presumably, so a bit early to be worrying about LL evicting you, hopefully.
Or it could be that there are some inconsistencies flying around. Who knows?
Not really sure why you are reacting as vehemently as you are. Surely any sensible person would wonder what advice is relevant here? I'm surprised you aren't able to respect that.0 -
We have been there for 4 months, we had our first inspection the beginning of this month, the inspection where they starting suggesting we have pets.
So how long was the initial tenancy agreement for that you signed?
you moved in during august?
did your initial inventory check in report make any mention of the mould or damp?
When did you first notice the mould/damp and urine smell?
Were you present at the inspection, who carried it out and was any mention of pets made at that point?
Normally during an inspection it is a time for both the agent who acts on behalf of the LL to talk you the tenant about how the tenancy is going and to highlight any issues I find it hard to believe that the inspection was done as a snooping exercise so would have thought it would have been the ideal time for you both to address the mould/damp/smell issuein S 38 T 2 F 50

It is a new property. With a new private LL through an agency. We have been there 4 months. Inspection carried out beginning of December. That is all that is relevant to previous posts. I have cleared it up. Therefore unnecessarily to bring it up. Thanks.0
