My oh and friends think I am mad too. They take the long receipt off me and read out an item. I know within a couple of pence, if not exactly, how much every item costs. :p

I would recommend anyone who is obstructed by Tesco staff in pursuing their "refund and replace" policy contact customer service and name and shame them! these people and managers are acting as individuals for various reasons and conning customers all day long, they all have name badges take a pen and paper with you, very few people will stand their ground and pursue such complaints as when they are refused but still refunded the difference they feel they haven't lost out, well they have because it's exactly that kind of attitude these big companies rely on, why change a price if 150 people get overcharged for every one person that gets the refund on the overcharge there's no incentive to get it right..

These are just instances where you get a supervisor or manager giving the old "well if they ask for it try and put them off but pay it out if you have to" type speeches, This policy is nationwide and I have had it confirmed numerous times to various managers of various stores, (I'M ON A MISSION!) I personally think all supermarkets should be enforced to adopt this policy to force them to resolve pricing errors more promptly, only when they are losing money will they actively do so, so long as they are raking it in on the tills up and down the country we are open to what is affectionately referred to in the trade as skimming the customer.

Have the HO number handy when at customer services. Its a freefone number so you can either ask to borrow their phone to ring HO to confirm or use your mobile (which might not be free). Usually gets some reaction.

I made a fuss last week when the wooden garden furniture was not reduced in my Tesco city centre store yet it was 1/2 price in the store about 6 miles away. City Centre had plenty of stock but section manager told me that they had only heard from another customer that it was reduced and she assumed it was only in Extra stores. I asked her to check with HO and she could see I wasn't going to give up. She asked a girl on customer service to check whether it was reduced in the Extra store - which it was. The customer service girl was lovely and she agreed that if you paid full price in one of their stores and then saw it 1/2 price on the same day in another branch you wouldn't be happy. She got the other store to hold me a table and 4 chairs until 8pm when my OH could collect as my car was too small (this was about 3pm). Lucky they kept them for me as all the chairs had sold out by the time he got there.

    Ritac1,

You didn't say if you got your games for free when you went back. I guess you did otherwise you would have been venting steam by now.

Does anyone know if Somerfield still do double refund / no quibble for unsatisfied customers? I remember I took back some reformed chicken things (birds eye) and I said I wasn't happy because they taste and look like rubber, and it wasn't made clear on the pack that they were not real chicken. I only wanted my money back and felt a bit guilty when I got double my money, I tried to refuse but she insisted I had to get double money back. It wasn't their fault it was Birds eye.

    tesco bikini bottoms!!
These were origionally £4 but have been reduced to £2 ( written on the tag) They Are scanning at £3 so i went to customer services and got a full £3 refund. (unfortunately the tops are scanning at the correct reduced price!)

The tag says they are 'print pant orange' and they are mid leg. They are orange/red/white/black flower with a orangey blackground.
    Happy hunting.

Have to agree with you, Ben!

By the way: Wig - you bought the product not from Birds Eye but from the supermarket, so it's only right that they should be accountable if they are selling poor quality food.

Yes Wig, I did get the games for free. Also, the assistant never corrected my receipt and a friend of mine suggested that he would go along to another Tesco and tell them I have been overcharged and get another refund of £19.97 x 2 !!

I wouldnt dare do that but it does show how lax the store assistants are. I guess they dont get the appropriate training.

I must say, I am usually quite happy with the general assistants, especially if they are young, They are more than happy to help, but get an older assistant, maybe 45+, or (god help us) a supervisor who thinks she is Hitler reincarnated, then it is almost like Tesco belongs exclusively to her and any losses come out of her pocket.

Most promotion advertising used in supermarkets have an 'Ends on' or 'Valid until' date printed on them (usually in the bottom left corner), and Tesco are no exception.

If you find one displayed past its date then it is usually a good sign that the item will scan at the original/non-promotional price. If it doesn't then you can always ask them to take it off as you've changed your mind.

Example... Tesco currently have large mangoes at £1.48 each or 2 for £2.50, but on Monday night at the Hoover Tesco (Greenford) the paper ticket on the shelf edge had 2 for £2.00

Anyway, I got my two mangoes, the scanned at 2 for £2.50, and I got a refund of £2.96 & kept the fruit. So in the end I got paid 46p to take 2 mangoes as they did not make any adjustment for the multisave! :0)

Another thing to watch out for is price tickets without specific size/quantities on them. Along with the example above, they also had a price ticket that only said 'Mangoes, 67p'. Now they would try and argure that this only applies to the 'medium' size, but if you stick to your guns you should get a refund.
