I said: "I know" and smiled sweetly.

Couldn't find any overpriced joints at all today, just the turkey steaks. Really hacked off, looks like I might have to actually buy the sunday roast this week :eek:0

IF...you buy 2 packs of 6 * Pepsi max 330ml Cans, because there is this amazing "buy 2 for £3.50" offer being thrown in your face.....
YET...right underneath them you can buy a pack of 12 anyway for only £3.29!!!!
ARE YOU BEING OVERCHARGED BY THEIR PROMOTION OR WHAT!!!
I will be very interested to hear if anyone has pushed this one becasue I have been "a man on the edge!" over this for a few weeks now!!!!
No you are not.
The offer states 2 for £3.50 in relation to six packs and not 12 cans. You are just paying more than you need to, but you will see this repeated throughout the store with point of sale such as Value pack or bigger value pack etc when it actually works out more expensive than buying multiples of smaller packs, this is merely one of the marketing ploys used by supermarkets, they know people can't resist a bargain, an item doesn't necessarily have to be a bargain just displayed as one and most people will bite.Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.Together we can make a difference.0 -
Kazzea wrote:I assume the policy is the same - but the way the online store works is that the original price shows up in your shopping basket but the multisaves etc are taken off on delivery (it does tell you that your shopping basket total is BEFORE BOGOFS multisaves etc have been worked out) this means that you can getthe shopping total pastthe magic £50 or £75 mark for using your codes without actually spending that amount. If they have overcharged you on your receipt on delivery THEN i would assum a quick phone call to customer servies would get a full refund of the product plus you would get to keep them.
Refund and replace does NOT apply to Tesco.com it is instore only I'm afraidFour guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.Together we can make a difference.0 -

So true. I alwyas check the price per kg info they use on the price tag as a guide to see if the larger value pack is actually better value.
And I have now discovered where the price check scanner is instore. Had to ask staff;it's hidden in the bottled water aisle. What MSEr buys bottled water at the huge cost compared to tap water:eek:Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?

I did last week actually, we had a water "supply interruption" I'll say it was interrupted! 10hours without so much as an "Oops we cracked another main" type announcement no loud hailer van, four telephone calls before I could get anyone to admit they were responsible for making alternative supply only to be told, "we haven't been mentioning it to callers as we don't have any bottled water left" they will be getting the bill for it you can bet on that.
back on topic though, if you want to see just how widespread this practice is take a look at the pet food aisle next time your in your local, you will see flash packs offering "big value savings" "save over £" "get 6 sachets free" cat food and dog food sachets in particular, what they do is base their claim on the comparative price of purchasing individual sachets (which nobody but nobody actually does) all you have to do is compare the price on a like for like comparison, ie if you normally buy a twelve pack and the offer is on a 36 pack then the price should be less than 3 x in total, what you will actually see is not only are you not saving but in almost all cases you will be considerably down on the deal. I have picked on the pet food sachets because this is probably the worst offender and you would have great difficulty in actually finding a saving using accurate comparison.Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.Together we can make a difference.0 -
RussLE wrote:You may only have got it for free Alan, if there was a price on the shelf which highlighted that they were all half price.
The fact that only two had labels on doesn't mean much, they most probably all would go through the till at £14.97 anyway.
It was only the shelves which were marked half price. The two barbies sitting on one of the shelves still had the original price of £29:97 and I got one of the staff nearby to check the price. She came back and confirmed they were not part of the half price offers. All the barbies (same as what I got) sitting on the floor shelf below had both the box and the shelf edge labels displaying the correct price. I'm happy with my buy but realise if I pushed it I could have got it free.
Cheers,

mhoc wrote:I emailed them as what would happen if an out of stock item brought my total below £50 and I was told to contact them if it did. I had two multibuy offers which would have brought the total below £50. Fortuantley they substituted the bog standard loo rolls for some very expensive own brand ones. This made my total slightly higher to just over the £50.
So I rang our local store, no problem took the expensive loo roll into store and got the bog standard plus refunded the difference.
Wonder what would happen if all your shopping was BOGOFs or offers?

I ordered online 7 July for delivery 12 July. Extract from email confirmation says "The total guide price is £55.52*. This does not include any savings from Multisave or Internet Exclusive promotions. These extra deductions will be made when your order is delivered. You have used 1 eCoupons with this order today with a total value of £5.00."
When order arrived BOGOF etc amounted to £7.74 but 4 other items were unavailable, totalling £15.92. Because the total bill now came to £31.86 (incl delivery) they had disallowed the £5 voucher, saying I had not spent £50. I emailed them quoting their T&C where they should have let me know prior to delivery if goods were not available, giving me a chance to cancel the order. No such email had been received and I definitely would have cancelled, so I argued the point that they hadn't kept their part of the bargain and had also ruined my family party due to the 4 items (wine boxes) not being delivered.
Tesco emailed back: "The coupon threshold is only reached on the charged amount. As we could not supply some of your goods this fell below the threshold. However I have refunded the amount for you on this occasion."
The fact that they could no deliver goods was hardly my fault and this ruling makes me very reluctant to order online again in case goods are again missing and my order doesn't "reach the threshold". Also from the tone of ....... "refunded you on this occasion" it sounds like I won't be able to appeal again.
How do others ensure their orders don't fall short of the magic £50 to use the £5 voucher - or has the CS person got the rules wrong? Sorry this has turned into an epic, but needed to explain the situation clearly (I hope)0
