Tesco Wrong Prices Thread - please post your finds here

I remember my first time.....aahhh!
I had done my weekly shop and after buying the normal 4 bottles of Pepsi Max for the kids, I noticed that on the "50 extra points for two bottles" offer, the price was 4p cheaper.
When I got to the till and the checkout girl ran them through, I queried the price. She called over the supervisor, who told her to run them back through and re-present them at the4p cheaper price....after querying their money back and keep the item (this was around when it was launched!) the supervisor smugly told me that it would have applied if I would have paid for the goods and then gone to CS.
I WAS LIVID!!!
The very next week, the label was back!
So I finished my shop, put it in the car...turned...filled the now empty trolley to the top (48 bottle if I recall!!!)...sneaked past the customer service area to the end...put one bottle on the counter and pointed out I had 47 more...you know...big party!!!!
Then when I got to the CS cubby hole...there was a bloke waiting to assist me and the very same, smug bit...lady! with her back to us!
I put one bottle on the counter and said quite loudly! "These are overpriced! I would like my money back please!"
He looked at the bottle then at the full trolley...."48!" I said proudly, "would have been more but the wheel went wonky!!"
Lady muck looked around, looked at me, looked at the trolley, looked at the guy, then just teeth grittingly said..."Give him a refund!"
Maybe this was why they brought in the 6 item rule!! SORRY!!!

I remember a programme a few years back whereby, a family would check not only the prices but the weights, desciption etc and if the ticket didn't match exactly the product - then they would get the items free - this applied to all the supermarkets. Obviously they would buy the item in huge quantities, they ended up being banned from several supermarkets.
What they were doing was perfectly legal and was backed up by Consumer Legislation - I believe that it why the Supermarkets introduced the bulk buying policy in order to minimise their loses.
I noticed in the meat section of my Tescos last night - they were several shelf tickets missing!0 -
This is my first post here - Hello everyone!
Just thought I would share my experience of getting the 5 pack of sirloin steaks that redfox suggested a couple of days ago.
Only one left on the shelf, but that was enough for me. Bought it. Went to CS. Was told as the price on the pack was correct so it didn’t matter what it said on the shelf. Pointed to the sign behind and highlighted the word OR in their promise. Then they went to check the shelf. Then they came back, agreed that I was right, but first they had to call the meat manager. Meat manager came, got filled in on the story so far, then went back to the meat section. On returning told me that this was a one off because all the others were correctly priced. I told him that I already knew that, and that's why I only had one pack. He then spent about 5 minutes with a calculator working out how much less it should have cost if the correct discount was applied. He failed to work it correctly out so gave me £2, which he said was more than generous. I stuck to my guns and said I wanted a full refund. He was quite sure that Tesco wouldn’t do this, and where did I get this stupid idea from. For about the 10th time I pointed to the sign behind CS, which he continued to ignore. I even asked him to explain to me in his opinion exactly what it means, he couldn’t. When I realised I was arguing with a meat manager I asked to see the real manager about it. He went off to find him. Anyhow, the manager never came back but the meat manager did with instructions on how to handle the refund and replace.
Now this is the bit that makes no sense.
He took the meat off me, crossed off the barcode, and then chucked it in the bin. He then asked the CS girl to give me a refund. Then he complained to me that because of me they had to waste this meat and couldn’t sell it. I had to go off and get a fresh pack. No problem by me. Lets find the biggest pack from a selection that all had a fresher best before date on them.
I don’t get why they had to throw it away. I also don’t get why it took about 30 minutes for the whole process. Not sure if it was worth it for a kg of meat. Anyhow I will try again another day to see if they have refined their procedure at all.0 -

He had no right to take it off you and throw it in the bin. You had paid for it so it was now your goods. I would ring HQ.~Laugh and the world laughs with you, weep and you weep alone.~:)

He had no right as another poster has pointed out nor any need to act in this manner, he was essentially venting his anger and making a big display in order to deter you from acting in a similar manner in the future, follow the advice given previously and take the matter up with head office and get this bully the kick up the backside he deserves, and as for questioning whether or not it was worth it for a kilo of meat that is exactly the way he wants you to feel.
It's tantamount to you turning up at Tesco with an overpriced product and a kid with holes in its shoes and blaming them for not being able to buy new shoes because they overcharged you 30p for orange juice.
They mispriced the product not you
They offer refund and replace you are not requesting it
You are giving them an opportunity to get something right
They are taking that opportunity and getting it wrong again
I always say when dealing with situations like this give them every opportunity of resolving the issue or screwing it up further, each time the screw up it ups the ante for you, you should be looking for some kind of compensatory award from them for humiliating you in public in reward for bringing to their error to their attention.
These errors tend to come about because of high work loads low staffing levels and poor supervision, how much would it cost Tesco to hire an army of employees just to check for errors a damn site more than a few refund and replace incidents I assure you, refund and replace is cost effective for them because they can rely on the customer to have a discerning eye for price detail but not their own staff, if applied correctly it would mean once a refund and replace incident occurs the details are cascaded to all other stores to remove offending stock but instead you get the thick skinned individuals who take umbrance at their mistakes being highlighted and go into defence mode, and what's the best form of defence? in most cases the customer is either frightened or shocked into inactivity and will walk away with their tails between their legs allowing the overpricing to continue, yes it can be embarrassing but if we all walk away we all end up getting screwed.
I would always recommend you stand your ground firmly but calmly, be wary that other people around you cannot necessarily hear what is going on so no wild gesticulations towards people or aisles it will appear you are the agressor to onlookers, if ever an assistant appears to be losing patience or even their temper you should immediately ask to speak to someone of a higher authority as NO supermarket or any other company for that matter would openly tolerate behaviour such as this from its employees, this person was merely trying to keep you within a little bubble he could control and bring about an end to his best advantage at a cost to you.Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.Together we can make a difference.0 -

No, I agree Poppy. He had no right. But the fact is I still walked out of the store with bag of steak and paid nothing for it. I am happy with that.
I will be doing it again, and again, and again. If this behaviour continues, then I will get head office involved.0 -
