Right people, fill me in here.

As a sainsburys/asda shopper with a few visits to the local tesco metro now and again, I`m yet to indulge in any of these tesco bargains !!

Can someone please tell me the `tell tale` signs ? ie. if an item has been reduced, will it usually come up as full price on their till??

Occasionally the price is input incorrectly on to their system and some lucky mse'r will spot it and post here, most often it is when items are reduced though that you get overcharged sometimes because the checkout operator has scanned the item incorrectly other times because the reduction process was not followed properly, it's more a case of know what your buying and how much the displayed price is and CHECK YOUR RECEIPT most people don't despite being on low budgets many people trust the computer to get everything right for them, you will be shocked if you don't normally check to find out just how often you are overcharged and probably spend hours agonising over how much it must have cost you over the years.

The recent meat misprice is not really that common to be honest with you but a few of these such as the wine deal do surface, just watch the forum as carefully as you do your receipt and you will come across enough to make the looking worthwhile, don't forget to come back and post if you do find anything, meantime check this post out for Sainsbury's deals I spotted over the weekend.

It's not true the manager lied to you, check with their head office customer services and they will confirm this for you!

:o Complain via email to customer services and they will probably send you some vouchers! That's just not good enough, very bad.

Desiree potatoes in Tesco scanning at £1.58 instead of 99p, was just offered 59p back so i pulled up the assistant and said in a polit manner "what about your policy on the wall?" she said "What is that?" I said "get the item and a full refund !", she said i didn't know about that one, i said well the instore training isn't working then is it ??. It was all friendly but you have to be on your guard as i fell for it last time and only got the price difference back !
  • Been in to Tesco North Shields this morning their cartons of juice in the chiller cabinet, orange, apple, pineapple etc are 66p each or 3 for £1.90 but the multi-buy price saving isn't going through. I really scored this morning as I also but 2 lots of reduced fresh fish which the cashier didn't spot and they went though at full price. Tesco gave me back over £12 today yipee!!

I may well be wrong (and I'm sure i'll be told pretty dam quickly!!!) but, if you raise the query at the till whilst they are checking out your purchase, they are within their right to just re-scan the item back through and represent it at the correct price, without giving you the full refund and the item for free.
This is because you haven't yet actually purchased the item.

So always beware, don't raise your concern with the assistant, always pay first, then go to customer services.

There is where the fun can start!

and believe me, having them give your money back is definitely fun!!! :rotfl:

I'd self scanned but hadn't noticed until got home so went back next day.

I would have queried it on the spot had i noticed it, but was a bit flustered as the shop was quite busy

If there is one price on the shelf, and another price on a sticker on the product, and the till charges the price on the sticker on the product, can you still argue that the shelf price prevails or do they say you knew what the sticker said and so the sticker price is the going rate?
