Living room reskimmed and painted. Furniture back in situ,
including some replacement pieces. Need to get our pictures/framed photos back on the wall.
2. Save £4000-5000 pounds (relatively achievable)
Current savings just under 5k,but we've had the caravan serviced and we need to pay our seasonal pitch site fees out of that so that will be going down by about 700 this month. But it is going up.
3. Actually set a date for our wedding, which means deciding where we want to hold it
No progress yet.
Well mine was only a short list.0 -
Resolution - to declutter the bedroom.
January goals are -
buy a new diary (I've got small ones but the shops run out of my bigger one)
put away 2018 paperwork and start 2019 files
update household organiser
put away all unused Christmas cards
January birthdays
Declutter birthday box
I've done all the above apart from the household organiser but have been side tracked ever since so am now setting up the next set of goals. As I've got to get a few other rooms ready for an upcoming visitors this month (3 people at two different times) so only putting a few things on the next list.
APRIL/ MAY
1. household organiser - this could be a long job as a lot is out of date.
2. clear top of large chest of drawers, put something attractive there.0 -
Checking in as we are now 50% of the way through the year  How have you done with moving forward on your 2019 goals?0

belfastgirl23 wrote: »So I’m going to make a start on my resolutions for this year, though they’ll be work in progress over the next few days:
One offs.- Make a will (again). Not yet
- Go to Spain to visit family yes
- Refresh bathroom (paint and reseal bath) Done and it looks fab!
- Get outside of the house painted Done and also looks great
- Check all Direct Debits and cancel any I don't need Done but can always recheck
- Change internet provider Done
- Keep a note of spending for one month planned for August
Health
(As a smug note I’ve lost a stone the last year, much needed)
According to my scale app I’m still down half a stone from the start of the year but the direction of travel is UPWARDS. Not good. Need to get a grip on this- Go to all of my exercise classes yes
- Eat healthfully and use supports regularly (e.g. My Fitness Pal) more or less
- Focus on not drinking alcohol, it makes me feel worse This is a good time to remind myself about this, I’ve been crap since May
- Be more active at weekends and likewise crap since May
- Walk 2019 miles I’m at 987 miles with today still to go, was away a lot of this month and my pedometer ran out of charge a few times and I missed a few miles so ok with that
- Think about meditation again Nope
- Improve vegetable consumption Signed up for a non-refundable veg box scheme it’s working wonders
My end goal is to have lost at least another stone over the year, ideally more, and be close to my goal weight of 147lbs. Goal update: If I can just maintain for the summer and then maybe try to lose another bit in Autumn I’ll be happy. Aiming to get to 147lb for this time next year but I’m ok with taking it slow
Family- Be more accepting of who and how people are yes, feel like I’m getting this now
- See close family regularly yes
- See friends regularly and try to come up with reasons for regular dates slipped a bit the last couple of months, need to refocus
Work- Do my day and go home - it’s only work yes maybe too good at this at the minute
- Connect more with wider team and be more of a team player yes to the first, maybe no to the second
- Build networks (go to events, meet people) yes
- Be OK with saying no (politely) A good time to be reminded of this
- Be positive. Likewise, good to be reminded
Finances- Keep up to date with financial admin - check in once a month yes
- Save £600 to long term savings working on it
- Continue to build short term savings fund (£1200) have smashed that
- Keep OH up to date with our financial position yes working on this
Beyond all of that, my other goal is to be kind to myself, to accept that sometimes things are tough.
Longer term I’d like to do some decluttering as well but as per the above I’m not putting that pressure on myself just yet. Of everything above, the health/weight loss is by far the priority!
As predicted, forth of firth on the decluttering, planning to do another room today where clutter has gathered, but keeping better on top of it than i was.
How’s everyone else getting on?
For info I think next year I’ll do a 20 things for 2020 approachthough of course you can always post fewer if you want!

- walk 1000 miles - Time to dig out the Fitbit -
- lose 50lbs - I think I'm going to go with calorie counting for this one
- Add another £5000 to my house saving pot - just gonna keep on doing what I'm doing
- Decluttering my house, specifically my bedroom and the spare room - have no choice with this one as I won't be able to take it with me when I move house :rotfl:
My six monthly update
- walk 1000 miles - this will happen as I've switched jobs and do a lot more walking. Fitbit doesn't work though and I'm too tight to replace it
- lose 50lbs - about 3lb off so far :rotfl:
- decluttering my house - not happened
-add 5k to my savings - not doing too badly so far

Quarterly check no 2 - aka halfway point!jackieblack wrote: »1. Lose weight - I managed to lose 12lbs in the 3 months before my daughter’s wedding last year but have put 3lbs back on since
Not going well - I’ve now regained the full 12lb
2. Finances - continue to make small overpayments with the aim of reducing the term.
This one is going to plan
3. Declutter - Having sorted out the biggest bedroom this summer, I now can't actually get into my smallest spare bedroom at all(keeping the door closed helps enable me to ignore it
)
I need to do this during days with longer daylight hours though - last time I ventured in there to look for something, there was a power cut and I was trapped in there in the pitch black for two hours as I'd managed to block my way out moving boxes around! :rotfl:
Still not started
4. Travel - hoping to be able to get away this year, however this is not in my control. I need my daughter & son-in-law to confirm if they can take holiday from their work to come and stay and look after (their) cats, and to give me the dates.
I finally (begrudgingly)got a commitment and actually managed to find some flights that fitted their very rigid dates/timeframe/restrictions.
Not what I would have chosen under different circumstances, but am just looking forward to getting away finally! :j2.22kWp Solar PV system installed Oct 2010, Fronius IG20 Inverter, south facing (-5 deg), 30 degree pitch, no shadingEverything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the endMFW #4 OPs: 2018 £866.89, 2019 £1322.33, 2020 £1337.07

Longer term I’d like to do some decluttering as well but as per the above I’m not putting that pressure on myself just yet. Of everything above, the health/weight loss is by far the priority! HAVE ACTUALLY DONE A LOT OF DECLUTTERING, JUST ONE ROOM LEFT TO DO. IT HAS SENTIMENTAL CLUTTER IN IT WHICH MAKES IT HARDER:(
Just doing another quarterly check in, I know it’s a bit early but I’m doing some planning for the last quarter of the year so it’s timely for me. Sorry for the shouty all caps but it was too fiddly to start with the colours. Anyone else want to post an update and/or recommit for a final push? I have to say I’ve found it really useful to remind myself of the resolutions again!0 -

I’ve yo-yoed horribly this year
2. Finances - continue to make small overpayments with the aim of reducing the term. Current fixed rate ends around Easter so also hoping to get a good new deal, reducing the due MP slightly, which will add to the OPs.
This one still going to plan

Nope. If anything, it’s even worse!Too much to do in the garden while the weather’s nice!
4. Travel - hoping to be able to get away this year, however this is not in my control. I need my daughter & son-in-law to confirm if they can take holiday from their work to come and stay and look after (their) cats, and to give me the dates.
Achieved! A week in Boston in AugustI’m not really a fan of cities, but I love Boston

A mixed year...jackieblack wrote: »1. Lose weight - I managed to lose 12lbs in the 3 months before my daughter’s wedding last year but have put 3lbs back on since
Failed miserablyI’ve now put the remaining 9lb back on as well so I’m back where I started
2. Finances - continue to make small overpayments with the aim of reducing the term. Current fixed rate ends around Easter so also hoping to get a good new deal, reducing the due MP slightly, which will add to the OPs.
This one went as planned

Another failure
