Mine are normally the same, but the combination of an end of season sale in the store I was visiting, plus a reasonable purchase allowance meant I hit lucky!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. Well good luck to all of you with the uniform ive got it all now except for shoes for DS2. I have really struggled to get age 13 trousers for DS2 - ive only got 1 pair they are out of stock in store and online at M&S BHS and Debs!!! Im on all the waiting lists so hoping I can get at least one more pair before they go back if not you can guarantee he will put the knee's through in some freak accident lol!

I braced myself and got the uniform run nearly done.
Shoes - ouch ouch ouch 3 pairs in Clarkes !!! Budget well and truly blown...
I spent a large chunk of yesterday afternoon checking sizes, fit and condition etc to figure out what I needed to get. Today I've visited Mr T's to get quite a bit however there are a few bits I need to order online (Mainly DD's trousers she's quite choosy now!). Also spent a while yesterday sewing in new labels and taking out old ones. Great.
Also had to do a trainer run for DD and DS2. DS1 got slightly stoppy when I wouldn't buy him any but I had to explain that his two pairs were OK plus a friend is about to give me some outgrown one's from her son and tbh for use in school they will do. DS1 was OK about it in the end.
SO after uniform, shoes, trainers and pens etc I've spent nearly £200 :eek:. Thats not in the budget...................lets hope payday brings a little light relief. I feel like out debt has remained constant for the last few months....I must update the totals.
OH and I had a brief discussion over the weekend about post cricket seasondecorating. Him on what needs doing and me on how we can afford it. I put £50 a month aside for the big ticket house stuff and there's £200 in the pot but thats not going to cover what we need to do:
- Redo our bathroom - floors, showers cubile, loo seat and window blind
- New bed for us - new bed linnen (we'll get a bigger bed)
- Relocate our bed to DD's room and decorate her room (long long overdue) - recycle some of our bed linnen but she'll need desk, chair, new curtains and paint
- Redecorate the hall - paint and some minor flooring bits
- Finish off main bathroom - Window blind and bath panel
, using our emergency savings
or ....not overpaying our mortgage for 2 months (Sept and Oct) and using the £1000 to fund everything. This will leave us behind target on the MFIT challenge but we need to get these things done. Notice I didn't have spend it on the CC as an option
Timewise this is going to be trickly given weekend committments etc (OH does everything himself) so there may be considerable choas in the WH household for a while.
Off to contact the mortgage company now!Working Hard to be Debt Free - one day :A soonDFW Long Hauler 74; Mortgage overpayments MFiT-2 challenger 100Total Nov07 £36000, Sep10 £1623:o:)0 -

unless a 0% cc is an option then you can keep up your challenge and use teh cc for 0% purchase and pay off in teh allocated time, i know thats not good advice depends what the mortgage rate is and how it effects reducing the payments etc ... just an option good luck xxI AM A MONEY MAGNET, THEY ARE MAKING MORE MONEY FOR ME AS WE SPEAK:pMIKES MOB, DFW NERD 1071, DFW LHS 132!MIRACLES HAPPEN I'VE SEEN IT WITH MY OWN EYES. Uniform/clothes for kids always seems to be a challenge. I don't think that I budget enough tbh since if I did I should have a surplus in the account for now when they bulk of the school uniform purcashes happen. I'll have to check the spending diary v budget when I've 5 spare.
I think I'm pretty frugal with clothes for the kids. I'm very lucky is that I get passes a lot of stuff for DS1 which gets kept and passed to DS2. DD is getting more choosy now at 13 but there's no real labels in her wardrobe, they get what they need.
We'll manage its just a shock in one hit.
Ref the decorating. 0%cc would be an option but tbh I'd rather pay it off straight away. We don't seem to making much of a reduction in the debt at present and we've still got the PC (still lovely and still working) sitting on there as well. I'm going to spend on the Tesco CC (points) and pay it off with the excess mortgage payments.
I still haven't decided about starting another OU course (£'s as well as effort) and I've still got my girly weekend to pay for (jsut about sorted) plus possible skiing next year (Really don't know yet where that is coming from).
Onwards to sewing labels in more stuff tonight I think and London tomorrow with the kids and some friends.:):):)Working Hard to be Debt Free - one day :A soonDFW Long Hauler 74; Mortgage overpayments MFiT-2 challenger 100Total Nov07 £36000, Sep10 £1623:o:)0 -
