Another Hang my Head in shame moment....

Went online with DD and ordered a load of stuff on the Next Directory sale. I ordered more than is covered by my b/day pressie vouchers so I am feeling really guilty. I'm sure a lot of it will go back but I will have to figure out how to pay for it all. Mind you in the good old days I've have ignored the issue and just ordered anyway.

Second I had to face the truth about my eyes and my age and order some new glasses. This is not cheap in any way shape or form and although I'll have two new pairs of specs (well one specs and one proper sunglasses) there is guilt attached. I last had new glasses over 4 years ago but it wasn't the astectics it was the fact I couldn't blinking well see out of them to read anymore. I knew this 18 months ago but I was in denial and couldn't afford the cost. My MSE DFW ways means I can afford something when I have the money put aside to pay for it. Perhaps I need a new savings pot Glasses?! I still can't really afford it but I can carry on any longer. My contacts are easy since I just get them changed as part of the package (which I pay for I know). Anyway £300 later :o:eek:

Kids break up today :T. Legoland on Monday :T;) on Mr T vouchers. Work is manic so much to do before hols but it will get done somehow.

and to top the guilt etc I've got a rotten cold :p

Told OH about the glasses and he was cool about it which was nice however I'm the one that has to balance the budgets....I worked out (How SAD am I) that I need to put £10 away each month to buy glasses every three years!! I've not actioned that one yet!

Sold something on ebay and discovered £26 of MB money that I'd forgotten about last week. IN total my re-entry into the MB arena has netted me £16. Which combined with my ebay sale of £5 means I've an awfully long way to go to pay for £500 Oct holiday, £300 glasses and £100 extra clothes :o That's £900 to find! Thats before any funding for my girly weekend in September or my ski trip next year....Oh and find £1k for my next OU course!!! See why I hang my head in shame at reckless spending ....

I guess we're in that phase at present although come next month it will be new school shoes, uniform etc. Plus we've not started on the house bits. We want a new bed, we need to redecorate our bathroom and DD's bedroom needs re-doing once we re-organise beds. We've got a small budget for this (haven't I always!) but the pot stands at £100 and £50pm isn't going to go very far..

Sorry if I sould fed up I guess I'm feeling rough and my umph has gone today. Glass of wine tonight, medicinal!

Ah chin up WH, you have been brilliantly focussed, you will do it again I am sure. I pay £15 per month into a health scheme which gets me so much towards dental & optical plus physio which proved brilliant when my back went last year. I used to view this as dead money when I was younger and didn't claim much but now I defo claim more each year than I pay in. Is this something you could join?

Its so easy to overspend & get carried away, like you we want nice things, love our holidays can't resist a bargain just be careful because thats what got us in to this mess to start with. I stopped comping because I was too lucky! I won so many weekends away, days out and holidays but they are never totally free - theres always the extras like train fare, clothes, spending money etc to find.

We had to fork out for all that stuff beds/decorating etc last year and you are right £50pm doesn't go far, all the extra cash I should have been paying towards our debts have so far this year gone towards house imrovements. if we'd not done this stuff we would be at least £10k less in debt but they are the choices you make in life - what makes you happy? If these are things you have put off and off until you can afford them then maybe that day is here?

Anyway, now I am rambling, all im trying to say is so long as you dont lose the plot completely then its ok to indulge in things you want or need now and again, just try and keep it balanced. enjoy your winec gx

Thanks for all the coments guys.

I'm past lasering I think now. Actually got the new specs today and they are superb. I can't believe I've waited 18 months for them as I can see close up perfectly now!

I know its easy to overspend CG don't I just. Thats why I will remain on here until the last penny is cleared and beyond. Much of the Next stuff is being returned (too big/small ono actually liked in the flesh) so that overspend is slowly reducing.

Had a super fantastic day at Legoland yesterday with the kids. Great fun and many happy memories. Missed OH being there but thats the way it is with childcare in the holidays. Just about to put all the spending in the spending diary :o. I'll fesh up any over budget expenses later!

Need to get DD's birthday pressie ordered and book another trip to London before school returns.

Onwards and back to work tomorrow!
