Thanks, Valli. I'm just ploughing on through it, keeping going with decaff coffee and hoping the decisions I'm making are the right ones.

Must wrap what I've bought so far so that OH doesn't see what I've got him. He probably has already but it would be another job done.

The forecast is bright and windy after several weeks of rain - first load about to go out and second load about to go in. I will clear Mount Washmore today. Kittens safely locked into the sitting room so I can come and go outside without them marauding about and scrambling over the Fort Knox-like yard fencing, so that I could play with the new wheelie bins. Is it sad I get a frisson of pleasure every time I see them? I waited sooooooo looooonnnnng for them and we now have shiny pair at long last which was not OH's idea, so he's yet to understand why I decided to deal with the rubbish issue once and for all. Anyway, that job's now done, in more ways than one.

Today's listy is gradually diminishing but still hopelessly unrealistically long. I've got a Christmas Fair next Sunday, so I need to be super-organised by then. ho ho ho

    Bins all sorted and clean
    WM / TD is on

I'll try to pop in if I can log in, while I am away, and wishing you all a Happy Christmas and New Year, or I will be reading from a far. Cannot wait to see adopted grandson and his girlfriend and I gather I am off to visit his new college, how on earth did he get to 14 so quickly!

Lots of ((hugs)) HB. Sorry that I can't do more than offer you those. X

WM run. It made some strange noises, I think it might be hinting that it needs to be replaced. A new one I could really do without having to buy.

Been out for a walk with a friend. The wind blew the fuzzy brain away temporarily. The heavens opened just as I got home, so I am now a slightly drowned rat.

Laptop is on, I really need to crack the car insurance renewal today, as I don't think that is helping my panic levels, which seem to be creeping out of control for some reason.

Hugs help, so thank you Fayolle. Kelpie says 'licks.' I haven't been able to increase his pain relief to the level I think is required, so I'm staging his dose differently. It seems to be okay so far, even if it's only having a sedatory effect. As long as he's not stressed by pain I can cope, but that I find terrible to watch. I've found one of his prescriptions I've been looking for, for weeks, so that's another phone call I can make tomorrow, to see if the online pharmacy will accept it. It still has a few weeks left to run, so fingers crossed.

I've also found another invoice from 2008 I've been thinking about for weeks so I'm doing to do a repeat order, nothing to do with drugs or dogs. I think the price has gone from 24.52 to 38.49. That's an inflation rate of 56.9% in 10 years. I often think the government's inflation figures don't seem to reflect my experience of shopping at all.

WM x 3 is twirling, two loads pegged out and it started to drizzle. I left it all out there. The BM has finished doing its thing, and I've replaced the bird feeders that needed dealing with.

I'm a bit crap at making crumble, but I've discovered that if you mix up a batch of Twinks' Hobnobs mix (dead easy - weigh, melt, stir, job done) and then bake it without making it into biscuit shapes it makes the most fabulous ready-cooked crumble mix. (I add a load of chopped up crystalised ginger to my Twinks mix.) I never make Twinks with margarine, always butter, and then serve it over hot baked fruit with cold cream - it is the easiest dessert in the world. And without doubt - the best.

Bits and pieces achieved today, including knitting 4 legs for a sheep :D

I am very worried about your legless sheep. How can they trundle along on wool ones? I think we should be told.

16 urgent things to do, 6 left to do. Some will have to wait until tomorrow.

Bottom of fridge and freezer soup made; not bad, not bad at all. That's healthy lunches for the whole week but I'm going to have a job squashing most of them into the freezer.

Room ready, kitchen shelf and fridge shelf ready for a Panto musician to arrive, other lodger has gone to bed because he's got to catch a 3.00 am coach to London to sort out a Schengin visa so he can visit Norway to see his girlfriend. He's from India, she's Russian, they met working in Jerusalem. I've lent him my Oyster Card because he was a teensy bit fazed by London Underground the only time he's ever used it. OH has done all the explaining.

    Evening all
BF 'fixed' the vacuum, seems the filters were clogged, which overheated the thing and it cut out. So he washed all the filters & parts. Which is a grotty job I hate.

Xmas cards are all posted, apart from one I need to write a letter to pop inside.
Mum & brothers parcels will be posted tomorrow.

I'm here and sad yet again, OH is on about Christmas presents, I really don't know what I want / need or at his suggestion would like............I have plenty of everything

I've been telling people that this year will be the last I will be gifting. Next year I will be donating to charity on their behalf. There is nothing I want, and I don't see the point in asking what someone wants, as you might as well send them money to get it themselves. Christmas should be about being around family & friends, and not stressing about finding the 'perfect' gift.
There is a local shoe-box appeal for the homeless here, and I think they will benefit and appreciate some new socks & smellys more. My brother can afford to buy himself a new video game :p

I have said if someone wanted to still get me a gift they can donate to a charity instead.

  • Anyone got an idea how to get the taste of two entire bulbs of garlic chopped up and shoved into the SC on the quiet with what was supposed to be a [strike]nice[/strike] normal tasting chicken?

It made my eyes water with the raw smell from ten foot away when he lifted the lid.
