I wish dairy alternatives were cheaper - thankfully they're now much more readily available, but the increased cost just makes them unobtainable for me at the moment. It's certainly an avenue I'd like to explore more in the future, if and when my living situation changes or the prices fall.

My favourite cheese so far is "Koko dairy free cheddar." It comes in a block and melts nicely. Pricey in Waitrose at £2.29, but it has been spotted in Home Bargains at £1.00.

Aldi long life soya milk is half the price of that in Tesco and I prefer it :)

Cheers for the tips! I'm in NI, so no Waitrose or Aldi - I also am largely housebound and mostly shop online. I do keep my eyes on the prices already and sometimes 'treat myself' to some bits and bobs - it's hard as my OH is an omnivore, so if I buy soya milk, he doesn't drink it and cracks open a carton of 'normal' milk which then goes off as I'm not drinking it too. Ends up just being wasteful at the moment - I'd prefer to drink dairy myself than just chuck it down the sink.

He likes Quorn nuggets already, so maybe I'll be able to get him to make more little changes down the line. He's very accepting of my choices and preferences, so I try to be accepting of his :)
