Afternoon

I went for a blood test this morning. I should have gone a couple of months ago but obviously that didn't happen. The system is actually much better than usual. Ring the bell, announce who you are and go in. My bum wasn't on the seat for more than 30 seconds before I was called in by the nurse. None of the usual messing about with touch screens or waiting ages to be seen. There was also an MSE element as I saved £1 parking fee because there were plenty of spaces to choose from in normally crammed surgery car park.
Then I rang the vet and I'm waiting for her to call back. I also rang the hospital to query something for Mum. I thought it was a simple enough question but the cancer nurse didn't know the answer so she'll have to find out and get back to me.
I've got a Mr T order coming this week. Our food spend has gone up since all this started. It's a combination of buying things when I saw them and having an extra mouth to feed with DD being home. I don't suppose it's that bad considering food, toilettries and dog food are all included.
Hope you're all having a good start to the week. xx

Morning
Day 4/8, Prolific £2.07 cleared, £7.57 outstanding, Spends £27.50
I popped to the shops this morning for some things I needed and treated myself to some new socks. Last of the big spenders.
I wanted a couple of vest tops but surprisingly that particular clothes shop wasn't open so I'll have to look on line.
I've noticed even in the same store sales assistants seem to have their own personal 'rules' about what to do. For example most will happily take money directly from you, but today somebody wanted me to put it on the counter so she could pick it up and she gave me the change back that way. Mostly I use my card but I've also got cash that needs to be spent. Some staff are wearing a combination of masks, visors and gloves while some weren't wearing anything at all.
I went into The Works and guess what, Christmas has arrived in their craft section
I bet if I'd gone in The Card Factory Christmas cards would also be on display because I know they start early as well.
I'm taking DD to the dentist soon. Her wisdom tooth is infected and this is the 3rd time she'll have had antibiotics so it has to be removed. I struggled with mine but was too scared to have them out so suffered on and off for 2 years until it finally settled down but that was back in the day when antibiotics were given out like sweeties. I think it must be 3 strikes and it's out these days.
OK best make a move. Hope you all have a lovely day. xx

Oh my, Tea! Christmas goodies in the shops already? It's probably just as well i'm still avoiding the shops as much as possible.
I've also seen quite a wide range of approaches to hygiene and protection from staff in shops - one chap in particular had a face mask on, but in the style of a chin warmer. I could see both his mouth and nose, so I don't think he got the memo about how these things should be worn. I can't whinge too much, I only wear mine when in the supermarket for 1hr max. Just a strange observation!
What a nightmare for your DD - I had a very similar issue with my wisdom tooth two years ago and after repeated infections I got it removed. To be honest, the best thing i did was pay extra to be sedated when they did it. Didn't feel a thing or remember much and had a very whoozy and hilarious conversation with my mum on the way home. The recovery was a bit yuk for the 24 hours after but after that all was fine. I hope she gets it sorted sooner rather than later.Sealed Pot Challenge 075

I know HG! I couldn't believe it but it's true, Christmas has arrived and you heard it here first
Oh yes, the chin warmer look is one that seems to be favoured by many a shopper
Typically DD's tooth is problematic and has grown at an angle which means it can't be removed by the dentist. Instead she needs to be referred to the oral specialist so I've no idea when that appointment will come through. Not that they can do anything at the moment anyway until the infection has gone. I'll tell her to ask for sedation, although she doesn't seem overly bothered about having it out, but it would amuse me no end to listen to what she rambles on about afterwards lol. xx

This sounds like the exact issue I had tea - both my lower wisdom teeth grew in at an angle, so i had the sedation and extraction at the local dental hospital. My second one grows the same way, but decided to leave it until it decides to flare up. Although mine looked like a simple extraction, i apparently have long dental roots so the tooth clung on for dear life and ended up being removed in bits. Never been more thankful for sedation
Although it's likely that your daughter has a stronger stomach for this stuff than I.
Thoroughly enjoying seeing your pots looking so healthy

Crikey, that sounds awful HG. I'm definitely going to tell her to ask for sedation. She's not really as brave as she makes out and it's not as though you can stop halfway through is it. The pots are part of my genetic make up now. I might not have kept on top of the diary, but I've been on top of my pots all the way through this lock down saga.

I think that's the trick to success though, Tea. Make the pots part of your day to day and your make-up and you'll always be one step ahead of yourself
I'd like to be a bit more organised with pots in a similar way, but I haven't quite got there yet. We have current account (income and all DDs), spending account (food, fuel and any spends), gifts/ clothes account (which i top up every month and try to save for bigger expenses like uniform/ everyone needing new shoes at once) then general savings. Anything can come out of savings so it's not earmarked in a certain way, although right now it's all just being hammered for this work on the house (if it ever begins...).
I do wonder if I should have a more organised set up to pay for my insurances in one go (currently all DDs) and other smaller pots, but not sure I can take any more life admin... something to think on. Any words of wisdom always gratefully received!Sealed Pot Challenge 075

In all honesty HG my pots are probably the only thing that's really organised in this household! Don't get me wrong we know what's going out and when but we have a very similar set up to yours with current account for DD's, food account and savings. We're not very strict about what gets spent on food and what comes out of savings though, and certainly don't keep a tight rein on these pots although I try to be conscious of cost and plan ahead for future spending.
The one thing we did get on top of a few years ago was paying for things like car and house insurance etc up front for the year. And hubby is like a rottweiller where gas and electric is concerned. I've no idea from one moment to the next which company we're with.
But him putting the effort in means there's more flexibility in other areas.
I think you're doing brilliantly with the way you handle work, family, finances, debt busting and now the building project. I'm sure as time goes on these smaller pot type savings will come naturally, but for now you're doing a great job with the major stuff. xx1 -

Thanks Beanie
She can only eat soft food at the moment which is driving her mad as she's a bit of a gannet although you wouldn't think so looking at her. One puff of wind and she'd blow away
Hopefully it'll settle itself down in a couple of day. xx 2
