.... Then of course there's the small matter of repatriation of his body once its all over. Someone's going to have to pay for that.

    It's not compulsory to repatriate.
It may be Thai brothers wishes to be interred in Thailand.
And again not OPs problem should brother wish to be brought back.
There's this thing called money or rather insurance, either one.
That would do fabulously to pay medical bills, solicitor fees and repatriation.
It needs forethought mind, and it's not OPs problem to think of such things.
    63 mortgage payments to go.

    Zero wins 2016 😥

The brother made his choice 20 years ago.
I think he does deserve it.
    You can say it's cold.
    You can say it's callous.
If I was in the OP's situation, I really wouldn't care what you called it or what you thought.

Now you sound callous. What is wrong with people lol

I've already said I wouldn't care what you think.
The OP has been clear that they're not going to sign the form, have told the FO not to contact them again and to find a new nok.
What is wrong with people who think there's something wrong with people who don't share their viewpoint? lol

Do you have a family member from whom you are estranged Gilett? If not, you don’t know what you are talking about.

Those of us unfortunate enough to have these narcissistic leeches in our lives will have been bombarded for years with a succession of sob stories where money or attention is required to save their lives, keep them out of prison, avoid them being beaten up by loan sharks, yada yada.

The ONLY way to stay sane in this toxic situation is to frankly not give a !!!! and let it all roll over you. If that means that once in a while this dire eventuality comes to pass then so be it.

It is in fact you who is coming across as cold and callous by badgering the OP to act in these circumstances. Maybe you are more akin to the Thai brother than the UK one in this scenario!

Yes I do. In fact I'm estranged from the whole of my father's family so yes, I do know what I'm talking about. And I still wouldn't feel the same way you all seem to feel. It's not a 'fact' that I look cold and callous and could you lay off the exclamation marks a little please dear. It makes you look frustrated!!!!!!!!

All I've tried to do is put a more forgiving and compassionate angle on this as an alternative view, one which you all seem to find quite alien.

I'm more curious as to why you all seem to want to shut down anyone who does not share your own views. If someone doesn't agree with the general concensus they are either badgering the OP or don't know what they are talking about. That's actually quite patronising and suggests you are the only ones who do know what you are talking about. Well I don't agree with you and I'm not being shut down by you Nicki dearest.

I'm not feeling the love guys...... Well I think Nicki might love me but just doesn't want to show it in front of everyone xxx

    Not going to happen.
I hope the OP has read enough from people who agree with their decision to ignore the few people who are trying to guilt trip them into changing their minds.
And I'm pretty sure that that is the case.

I'm curious why you want to bang on about showing compassion when the OP clearly said pages ago that they won't sign the paper, have told the FO not to contact them again and to find a new nok.
    I find that quite patronising.

You're not feeling the love because there isn't any.
And hasn't been for 20 years.
