I must be really lucky, I have had numerous phones and Tablets ( same phone for last 3 years and same tablet for past 4/5 years.

neither have had cause to be repaired.

OP lesson learnt (or maybe not) to look after your "stuff"
  • Well with no help from you lot. You may be right but I guess I see if anyone else can help me send in a letter that may help in getting it repaired

Have you thought of buying something more durable in future?
  • In 2015 I purchased a HP Envy laptop from Currys/PC World. When completing the purchase the salesperson offered me the extended know how warranty, while at the serving counter, £8 per month and if your Laptop experiences any problems we’ll fix it and if we cant you’ll get a replacement- as simple as that.
In April this year, the laptop started acting up, I was watching youtube when the laptop froze, the screen went pixalated and the speakers started making a screaming/buzzing sound. I contacted Knowhow as I had the extended warranty, the engineer talked me through checking all the diagnostics to see if there was any problems- to which none showed up. I hardly used the laptop to approximately september again, and the problem had’nt gone away, id be using the laptop and id notice the cursor start to get ‘jumpy’ then the mousepad would become totally unresponsive and the screen would go black and if I had the volume up the speakers again would make a screaming/buzzing sound.
I contacted knowhow regarding this and the engineer talked me through totally resetting the laptop to new, so I saved the laptops contents on an external memory source, and followed the engineers instructions in resetting the laptop to new.
The laptop then seemed to work as it should, when being used for the next couple of weeks, then the problem re-occurred no difference to the fault exactly the same build up -‘jumpy’ cursor, mouse becomes unresponsive, screen goes black and speakers squeal and Buzz, (also Id like to add- control, alt, delete does nothing to exit the black screen) so again I contact Knowhow and they this time booked it in to be looked at, So I save all my data on an external drive and deliver it to the store, So the laptop went away for a week and was returned to the currys store again in reverse I uploaded all my data from the external source so my laptop was back and running and again seemed to be ok for 2/3 weeks when being used.
In the last 4 days this fault has occurred 3 times now, so I again called knowhow lastnight explained same fault no difference, to which I was advised it would be booked in, at this point I said “its only back just over a month, what is going to be done differently, as last time the service sheet stated visual check, reset to new, there was no internal checks carried out so what would be done differently?” To which the engineer stated the same would happen again, I asked “why no internal check, and what if it happens again?” Only again to be told It would just keep getting booked in and the laptop would only be condemned and replaced after it had ‘4’ components changed. At this point I said “ so this could be like table tennis I could book my laptop in send it away a number of times and say on the 10th occassion you change a component thats 1 towards the 4?” To which I was told thats true.
Now again this was not explained at the point of sale for the extended warranty, basically if we cant fix it we will replace it.
Im now of the opinion Know how sell this warranty knowing that its less hassle for consumers to wait for the item to be replaced and eventually replace the item themselves rather than have the burden of constantly saving their data taking the laptop to currys then the same again in reverse, I have 2 laptops and until this morning 2 ‘extended warranty’ policies with Knowhow totalling £13.50 per month totalling approx £486 for the last 3 years only to be informed of the above of the likely hood that if Currys cant fix it you will be sending your equipment away constantly.
I would also like to say that the condition cosmetically of both laptops are as new in excellent condition.
