My hayfever isn't so bad yet, but DD brought home a snotty cold from school last week which she passed on to me. Thankfully short lived, but I have not missed having colds! She actually caught a cold within the first week, but thankfully that was very short lived and mild for her. Though she passed that onto her Dad who had it worse. No coughs/temps etc, and we are doing the lateral flow tests twice a week and all still negative.Have been quiet as not done much prepping, and it's tax year end so work has been manic! Thankfully that rush is now over and I have 3 days off next week in addition to the bank holidays.I am very much looking forward to a catch up with a few mums friends tonight, in one of their gardens. And tomorrow morning we are going to a big park/lake area near my MIL for a walk, which will be lovely.Have a wonderful Easter everyone!February wins: Theatre tickets12

My hayfever has started, too. Cheap tip: nice and juicy lip balm, greasy cream around the nostrils, and greasy mascara on the eyelashes. Remove/repeat as needed. It catches quite a bit of the pollen.

Water off again for a while late this afternoon. So glad I had bottled and the gallon can we used to take camping filled .8

daz378 if your oil glands are blocked then massage your eyes with cooled boiled water and a compress will help. So will forcible blinking. Also rest your eyes every 20 minutes by looking 20 feet away for 20seconds when on computer screens will help.8

My partner was watching a You Tube video of what the American Red Cross recommend to have at home as an emergency kit and it got me wondering whether the British Red Cross have a similar list. They do. There are a few differences.
UK Red Cross Emergency home kit
A list of emergency contact numbers. This should be a paper copy, in case your mobile phone loses power.
A battery-operated torch and spare batteries, or a wind-up torch.
Battery-operated radio and spare batteries, or a wind-up radio.
Any essential medication and a first aid kit.
Three days’ supply of bottled water and ready-to-eat food that won’t go off.
Copies of important documents, such as insurance policies and birth certificates. Keep these in a waterproof bag.
Pencil, paper, penknife and whistle.
Spare keys to your home and car.
Spare glasses or contact lenses.
Baby and pet supplies if needed.
American Red Cross
At a minimum, you should have the basic supplies listed below:
Water: one gallon per person, per day (3-day supply for evacuation, 2-week supply for home)
Food: non-perishable, easy-to-prepare items (3-day supply for evacuation, 2-week supply for home)
Flashlight
Battery-powered or hand-crank radio
Extra batteries
Deluxe family first aid kit
Medications (7-day supply) and medical items
Multi-purpose tool
Sanitation and personal hygiene items
Copies of personal documents (medication list and pertinent medical information, proof of address, deed/lease to home, passports, birth certificates, insurance policies)
Cell phone with chargers
Family and emergency contact information
Extra cash
Emergency blanket
Map(s) of the area
What do you think of the suggestions? I do think the American suggestion of having a paper map of your local area is a good idea.

In advance of hurricane Katrina a number of people scanned and emailed themselves copies of their id, property and insurance details and qualifications.
That meant that as soon as they got to their relatives/friends' home they could start reporting claims and to look for temporary work. Given the lack of state help, those who moved fast were up and running before others had got a look in.
The other minor thing was to put a bowl of ice cubes in the freezer. If it's more or less intact when you get home, the contents are OK. If melted, you're going to need to dispose of them, but maybe not immediately. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing11
