THe other thing about the weather turning is that those who might otherwise have met up outside may well risk an indoor meeting
But, I guess we can only be responsible for ourselves and our own families.I wanna be in the room where it happens18 -

whatever anyone else says about social distancing outside, I still do not feel safe in areas with lots of people. If the virus is spread as a fine aerosol which can hang in the air, we can’t really kid ourselves that being on a beach with hundreds of people,an indeterminate number of whom are shedding the virus in every exhaled breath, is not an increased risk. I’m all for keeping the risk down. I Have no control over anyone else’s actions so I can only stick to my rules. I could have bent the official rules and stayed several nights outside of my tier using mental health as a excuse - I was actively encouraged to do so by many people who I knew had no intention of changing their rule-breaking plans 😞
If there is a cold spell,I intend to get through it without breaking a hip or a collarbone - it’s the same resolution I make every winter. 😃20 -

Happy belated New Year everyone. Thanks for the suggestions about the pushchair/ice.
I'm so sorry Elaine, I wish your Dad a speedy recovery, and I am so sorry about your uncle, it must be so difficult in Wales at the moment.
DH an I will have the vaccine if we are offered it however we are right at the bottom of the list, I can't see our way of lives changing anytime soon, I am fortunate that I can work remotely now my maternity leave has finished however DH still has to go to work everyday and keep aware. We won't be setting foot in any shops or supermarkets if it can be helped.
I was reading about school closures it is a shamble, not to long ago the Gov was having a go at the councils in London for requesting the schools shut and they would take action, fast forward and hey presto! DS won't be going to school next week the doctors have advised he stay home due to the pox, I can't say I am sorry the thought of school fills me with dread. I do think teachers/staff should be moved up the list for the vaccine though.

Euronorris I'm the same re winter preps and leaving work early. When I was working,I spent so many nights worrying what the weather was like at home. At work it was rain - but at home, 1000ft higher up, it would be snow. But if I mentioned leaving early I'd be met with incredulous stares and laughs. I often wished I'd been able to take them home with me. Esp the time my neighbour and I took 2 hours to travel 15 miles in a white-out18

When I had to go into the Manchester office, I relied on my husband calling when the weather turned trickier. It would be an hours drive in ordinary traffic, & an abandon-car-&-hike-the-last-miles-up-a-stiff-Lancashire-hill if misjudged. When I took "snow days" I took phone snaps & emailed them in - which entertained my bosses even as they OKed my unexpected absence. Now working from home is normal, nit being able to get the car out doesn't merit a snow day.
One boss refused to believe the snap so I took them up to the 15th floor & from the lift lobby window pointed to the hills where I live & you could see the weather front settling over like a broody chicken. Then pointed out that if she was checking in on her mum, that was a bit over to the left & you could see the weather coming in. We left in perfect amity & with no further wasted time,..17 -
