My farmer neighbour who shoots rabbits on his land has promised to 'sort me out a good one'. A friend pulled a face at the thought - even though she comes from a farming family and eats meat. What is it with rabbits? People who don't turn a hair at the notion of eating a cute fluffy lamb, balk at the thought of eating a rabbit. At least it won't have been reared in captivity and finished its life being carted off to an abattoir. Rabbits are prolific round here and even regarded as a pest. Maybe I should be a good prepper and learn to shoot.

I don't like all the little bones in rabbit. We had it a lot when I was a child as my DF used to shoot. Not too keen on finding shot in my meat either. I always seemed to end up with it when we had pheasant.14

Once you've cooked stuff like rabbit and pheasant, lift the pieces of meat out and then strain the gravy/liquid through a sieve.

Horrible things, rabbits, when they get in your garden or on your allotment.I too got heartily fed up of being fed rabbit during the 50s, and well remember the 'orrible pong of it cooking. I remember mixy too, and all the road kill. And I remember the noted Lincolnshire band called Flat Rabbit ...We're all doomed14

I dont like the smell of rabbit either, or the taste. But I'd eat it if there was nothing else..
