We'd really like the turkey parcel that we got from aldi last year. Was delicious, and more than enough for us 3. They didn't release it until 19th Dec last year though, and stock is always very limited. I went at opening time last year to ensure we got one. Not sure what it will be like this year, and wouldn't want to go if its mad busy and cases are high at the time, so might get something in as a backup. Not sure what though.
I wonder if, everyone having adapted to weekly (or at least less frequent) shopping, there will be less of a rush around Xmas and the days that follow, as people realise they can indeed go without a certain item for a few days. Or is that just a fools dream? LolFebruary wins: Theatre tickets15 -
Had a heck of a time at local supermarket! Very busy, a lot of unmasked customers (can't be all exempt?), no social distancing, barging across me as I was trying to socially distance to grab stuff, and some stocks were running low, again! And that was at the end of last week....
Don't know if it's calmed down, but, given a possible tightening of restrictions tomorrow, I suppose we ought to scan what we have for gaps....? And I do have enough toilet rolls....I really wish the local newspapers wouldn't hint on shortages, because, it just seems to prod panic buyers into action...

My spies tell me that the local supermarkets seem to be having a run on white sliced factory bread, pasta, bogpaper and hand sanitiser stuff, the last having mysteriously gone up in price overnight ...We're all doomed16

Bread never actually ran out here.15

I have just returned from a big Mr. T. Not out completely but loo roll aisle depleted, baked beans also as well as tinned toms. Lots of staff shelf stacking - more than normal during the day - so they’re definitely ramping it up.18

Just to clarify the queue for the DVLA was all licences not just tractor! Everyone is lumped into the same queue whether they want to drive a tractor, car, lorry etc. There is a shortage of good tractor drivers, my son is 16 today and will take his test on 20th October. When he passes he is legal to drive a tractor and trailer on the road as long as it isn't one of the huge wide ones. He can still have several tonnes of hay/muck etc on the trailer as there is no limit on the length of the trailer. He will be able to take the tractor to school with his brother in the passenger seat!! ( not that he will!)
We feel a bit hemmed in atm as all around us the counties and Newport have gone into lockdown with a "curfew" on the pubs etc of 11pm. We are on the border of Monmouthshire and Torfaen both of which at this time are not on lock down, but we know its coming as the health minister hinted that the lockdown could spread to south east Wales. I am seriously considering taking the kids out of school despite them being in year 10 & 11. There is no social distancing in school, little regard to the rules and now the canteen tables were not wiped down when my son went in on his staggered dinner break!! Boys are happy they have sanitiser made by Penderyn ( Welsh whiskey) that actually has a hint of whiskey about it!! They have had some funny looks off the teachers!
I did my usual shop today and the shops were very much busier than normal. I noticed many people stocking up on loo roll and doing big shops. Social distancing was difficult although the majority of people had masks and were trying their best; obviously there was the usual idiot factor. I am pretty much set for a lock down as I have accumulated a lot of food, medicines, cleaning products etc plus my freezers are full to bursting with home grown fruit and veg.
