I was planning pre-covid-lockdown trip to Costco but a pal warned that social distancing wasn't happening & my family are not quite hiding the car keys...12

I’ll admit when I saw salt-free tinned sweetcorn in Tesco the other day I bought 6 tins - hadn’t been able to get hold of it for months, only the kind with salt. Don’t know why 🤔Original mortgage free date: November 2044Current mortgage free date: November 2038Chipping away...12

I thought I do an extra Iceland shop – Long life milk, toilet roll et cetera but the items I usually order are all out of stock12

De lurking to say - been to Sainsbury's this morning and there were no obvious gaps. All the usual suspects ( toilet roll, flour, eggs, tinned toms etc) seemed to be in plentiful supply. Certainly everything on my list was there.16

So relieved to read that Asda are going to continue with the priority delivery slot, I was just beginning to fret about it. It's been such a help. We have used Asda's delivery service for many many years but my husband's health means we are staying away from shops still.

Phew! Caught up at last!!
Computer decided to die and I dont like browsing on my iPhone except for essential stuff. Eldest son has had a very bad back and been off school, phoned doctor, had x ray, trip to a&e and two to the chiropractor, so much for a quiet week now they are both back at school. He is still in pain but hopefully a third chiropractor trip will sort him out.
I have finally mucked out my very jumbled pantry and got a good idea of what I have in stock, not too bad as sister did a Costco shop and I bought the 48 rolls for about £12, (nice too). I have three freezers and have filled the two big chest freezers with home grown fruit and veg plus two lambs. I have bottled about 25 big jars of tomato sauce, "canned tomatoes" and had a go at a couple of whole toms bottled. My apples are still coming and I have dried a lot of the little eating apples as eldest son took a liking to them and ate the equivalent of 8 apples worth!!
I have got the new L*dl app and so far I am impressed. It gave me a £5 welcome voucher and gives you % off items that you actually use. I had 20% off cleaning products which I use so bought extra kitchen cleaner, dishwasher tablets, loo cleaner etc. Also discount on chocolate bars I buy and as I spend over £100 most weeks I hit the money off target. Last week I had over £5 off items I would have bought! This week it is money off bacon, cider I buy, loo roll I also buy and coffee that I dont. I have a £1 and £10 off to use tomorrow.
I have booked my flu jab with a local pharmacy on 5th October, first time so I hope it doesn't make me unwell. As for queues I had the longest one I have ever had waiting to book my sons tractor test online with the DVLA. Luckily I had it on my phone so I could keep checking how many were left in the queue. Wait for it...…………………………………………………………………………………. there were 192, 406 people in the queue ahead of me!!

Reminds me at the start of lockdown when we were bored, my husband and I use to play guess how many are in the virtual queue for Boots, was 1000's!
We admitted defeat and cleared out the greenhouse today, we binned a bucket full of green or split over ripe tomatoes, they had been neglected for the last few weeks so thought may as well sort before rain kicks in. The remaining broccoli has bolted, it's actually quite pretty, we were going to pull it up until we saw the amount of honey bees so that shall be left to do some good, our pumpkins are hanging in there but are quite small and the runner beans are still ticking along.15 -
I'm going to process the rest of the tomatoes today and plant some more cabbage plugs. Runner beans have been frozen and I'm leaving the rest to grow and dry out to keep for seeds/use. I'll have to ask how to do it when I think it's time. Brussels, leeks and cabbages will stand for a while yet. Freezers are full and cupboards are full.
It is in one of the papers today that people are snapping up frozen turkeys ready for Christmas. I don't have room even if I wanted to. If the worst comes to the worst, we'll eat whatever is knocking around (and probably enjoy it more without all the hassle).
Stocked daughter up with toiletries etc. and she has a Cupboard of Doom with strict instructions as to what is Doom stuff and what is now stuff. Got lots of dog food as one has poorly tummy and strictly limited in what he can have. If I haven't got it now I'm not having it at all. I've done prepping unless I can burrow into next door's loft space for storage.
