Elaine, hope you are OK, and have been able to sleep well, without too much worry.
My results came in around 6am this morning. Negative. But just thought it might help to have a rough timeline. I took the test at a drive in centre around 11am yesterday morning. Text result came through 6am today.

How do we know that Floss? I don't see Eton doing that, too exclusive. They might say it to look good though...

Cashflow - coming off furlough to join a new employer
Hi!I've been put on furlough by my old company and will be receiving my last payment at the end of the month from them.I've just been offered a new role with a different company and they want me to start next Monday (20th Jul). If I'm on both payrolls for both companies.Should I expect to receive both my furlough payment for the first three weeks of the month as well as final two weeks pay of the month from the new company? Or should I delay my start date with the new company to ensure I receive both?Hope that makes sense and thanks for your help in advance :-)9 -

Do you think I can cart a fridge, 2 baby bottle making machines, the hoover, pair of hair straighteners, a washing machine and a toaster that tests my patience to the repair cafes if and when they open 😂😭. The fridge seems to be having an identity and thinking its a freezer, the hoovers belt has snapped, ordering replacement. Bottle machines who knows but reverted back to os way of making the formula up and had readymade bottles incase of powercut phew thank goodness for prepping. The washing machine beeps during a cycle and sounds like its going to take off.
I read the brexit article, We doing buy irish meat but do buy the Aberdeen angus British mince from the supermarket, is this likely to increase drastically? We have deliveries from A and a few weeks ago the cheese and cravendale went up by 10p this week however they returned to previous price. Parsnips went up 25p and are still at new price. I think I will head over to Brexit and see what we need.

@elaine241 - try not to worry too much. It's unlikely that your samples were mixed up as you all put the labels on yourselves. It can be difficult to get a decent sample (as you'll know by now) as taking it tends to trigger gag reflexes and touching other areas of the mouth can also cause issues, so that could be one reason for yours being negative. There are lots of other reasons - I noticed when I did my last test that they now say you need to do them between days 4 & 6 otherwise it's too early/too late (I did mine as requested by the KCL/ZOE study, so this doesn't apply), plus many people have negative swabs (including in hospital) and doctors are still convinced they have the virus. Antibody tests are no better - people are having negative antibody tests who have had positive swabs. Lots of theories about all of these, some to do with viral load, some to do with the way different people react to the virus, some to do with how it behaves. We're learning more all the time.
Given that younger people (we think!) are more likely to be asymptomatic, it could be that your son, as you suspect, picked this up at school/on the way there/on the way back, and you picked it up from him - and it's lucky you DID have symptoms, otherwise he'd have gone untested. It sounds as if you've all be really good about hand hygiene etc, so I'm sure that the risk of transmission to FIL is minimal (particularly as they were working outside, and if your weather is like ours I bet it was windy!) - but at least now you know you can keep a close eye and take precautions (and maybe get FIL tested in a few days).
Remember (and I'm saying this as someone who has had it, and is now classed as having 'long covid), that this can be mild, that many people recover quickly with no serious issues, and that scientists and medics are learning more about it all the time. While it's a scary disease, because we know so little about it, there are good news stories. Having said that, I'm trying to avoid some of the more sensational 'long-term implications' stuff as reading about it doesn't help. Like everything, being fit and healthy can help - as can a good varied diet and outdoor exercise (one of the reasons we were encouraged to keep exercising outdoors, even during lockdown - unlike in many other countries). You've been doing everything you could - keep on taking the same approach and deal with things as they happen.

I've been experimenting with the instant dried yeast packs when doing my bread, the packs hold 7g of yeast and they tell you to use 500g of flour to that size pack, my experiment is to see if the pack will do a full kilo, so far I've got it up to 750g, which is useful to know if things go to pot again and yeast is hard to find.£71.93/ £180.0011
