I think this is the article https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2020/jul/10/no-deal-brexit-will-raise-cost-of-uk-household-staples-say-retailers (just they want me to register - not paywall but an email address) but I did also read (& grin at) this one https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2020/jul/11/allotment-hobby-lockdown-lifeline-trade-deals-britain-food (as I have A Lot to be Modest about & my lads are equally as unwilling to cooperate with a hint...)
I am being chivvied out to shop as I am told we're almost out of milk. So am trying to make what we have do til tomorrow but three blokes (two teenage) do eat a fair bit. (I just do not want to shop in crowds. Then again, I do not want to spend the next 24 hours listening to grumblings!)15 -

What are you stocking up on. More to the point, where and how are you storing?13 -
Wow, what a nice response. At 86 she should be grateful that she has to stand outside for an undetermined period and stop moaning. She should, out of her pension, purchase her own blood pressure monitor so that one in the surgery doesn't need to be cleaned after use. She has barely left the house in 4 months and appreciates that things are different. She should accept a telephone consultation as the norm, even though she cant hear what they are saying. She has no access to smartphone and wouldn't have a clue if she did. But hey, she's 86, if the delay or absence of this check means she becomes ill, or worse, she shouldn't complain just put up and shut up, to quote one contribution.
I sincerely hope that those who have been so dismissive don't find themselves in a similar predicament.

Ordered and received a dehydrating book in order to make more use of my dehydrator. Currently got a bag of potatoes grated and dehydrating hopefully to use for hash browns, fingers crossed it works. Used some dehydrated mushrooms in a risotto which worked really well.
Also managed to order a pressure canner from USA so am just praying it is shipped and arrives by end of July as promised and frantically researching technique and recipes. I love the idea of shelf stable produce and not just relying on freezing.12 -

Good news about your results Elaine - though sometimes I wonder if it is better to get it - but not a serious dose. I'm wondering if I got a very light viral load when in hospital in February. I'd be chuffed if I found out it was! I guess the thing to take away from this is that you caught a bug, despite being careful - shows how easy it is. Re our GP surgery, got a blood test due next week. Will have to make an appointment, phone them from the car on my arrival and wait to be summoned - straight through to the clinic. No one goes in the waiting room these days. As for meds dispensed by the surgery, this is done via an outside window - so you don't go inside at all.

I've had ME since I was at uni, I am now a woman of a certain age. Three weeks after the British Medical Association announced all over the media that they accepted CFS/ME as a bona fide illness, I was in my GP's consulting room being told unequivocally that there was no such thing as ME and that it was all in my mind. The amount of times I've refused prescriptions for anti-depressants and told the medic involved, somewhat testily, that I am not now nor have I ever been depressed, I am sick and tired of feeling sick and tired all the time! In one ear and out the blinkin' other, without connecting with a brain cell in between, in most cases. I soldier on, am shortly to have major surgery and the surgeon has told me that the ME will mean a longer recovery period than otherwise. Not may, or could, but that it absolutely will take longer. He's clearly got enough experience of operating on ME sufferers to know our bodies don't heal as well as they ought.
