Tesco express has started to get flour in again, was reasonably priced too. Worth checking the smaller shops if you know anyone going.Living the simple life11

boultdj I got glace cherries in Sainsbury's last week. They had plenty, but I was after sultanas, which they didn't have9

Ours was sold out, but there was sultanas in our local Lidl, and bread flour, but no other type.

Do you have any local fruit/veg people delivering that might be offering a block of fresh yeast? I got some, and divided up and froze (it was a 1kg block!!!). It is holding up well so far.
It is funny how things seem to peak and trough. I wasn't able to get any eggs whatsoever on my delivery this week. Luckily one of my neighbours popped to Home Bargains and offered to get me anything I needed whilst she was there, so she got me some eggs. But I have also found it difficult to get the tinned spaghetti for DD (it's a lazy lunch thing for us when we are knackered). Chalk is another one. We are alright, as DD doesn't go through it quickly, but I know the neighbours kids do, so I try to get some for them whenever I can. No luck for over a month now.
Next thing for me is playsand. Not an essential, but it keeps DD happy in the garden.

Our DD1 who works in a supermarket, currently doing internet orders, is often baffled & bemused by the system's substitution suggestions! Naans instead of poppadums particularly amused her; she didn't do it because, as she said, they're not the same thing at all, but her best friend rang up in stitches that very evening & announced she'd been sent two lots of naans instead of one pack of naans & one of poppadums. (Luckily, naans do freeze well.)Angie - GC Aug25: £106.61/£550 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)9

As for yeast, If you ask at the bakery sections of most supermarkets who have a instore bakery they often keep fresh yeast in a fridge. I picked up two small bags of fresh yeast from Morrisons for 20p each. I think there is some ancient law that says bakeries have to provide yeast to anyone who asks for it but don't quote me!
Today , before it got hot, I went and had a good couple of hours in the veg patch. Planting out the last of the climbing beans and the mystery squash plants which went between the bean rows. I had some seeds that were loose, somehow got damp and germinated, so being a good prepper I planted them up and now have 12 plants. I think they maybe Jack of all trades pumpkins, but I may be wrong!! I had a good weed round as this hot weather kills them off very quickly. Earthed up a couple of potato rows, watered everything then collapsed ready for tea! I trimmed some of the hens wings as the bloomin creatures keep flying out over the run and scratching in my veg patch. I have all sorts of salads, radish, spring onions and beetroot all mixed up and scratched about!
I had a long conversation with a lovely lady from the Welsh Government today, we seem to fall between the cracks of every scheme that is available to help business. She did give one ray of hope as she said there will be an announcement in next couple of days that may result in a scheme that helps, fingers crossed!
As for kids going back to school, I can not see how they will ever keep people safe, especially with little ones. My teenagers are currently sitting downstairs doing their online school work and are not being distracted by any friends or other pupils messing about. Both agree they get their work done a lot easier at home! Both are missing their mates and sports clubs but that's about it, neither feel safe to return to school. Eldest son thinks the English government is crazy to even consider starting schools and easing lockdown and is glad he is in Wales!
