Being alive is a very wonderful thing, I'd like to go on enjoying it for a long time to come so the actions are helping HWK and I by possibly saving our lives. Being purely selfish and I know it IS, I'm very glad we've had the advice to isolate and glad for all the other people like us who are suffering from underlying health issues and those of us who are older too whose lives will possibly still theirs to enjoy when covid is in hand and no longer the threat it is today. Had there been no advice and the population left alone to gain herd immunity I probably wouldn't be sitting here today typing this post! rather focuses the mind knowing that!14

While i know holidays etc don't matter in the grand scheme of things - i am missing the 'being able to look forward to one' kind of thing? last week we were supposed to have been abroad and next week in Pembrokeshire. both obviously cancelled and i know many people are in the same boat. Being healthy is the most important thing, of course it is, i just wish we knew when there was an end in sight. We keep saying "when this is over we will go to..." but it's not the same as it being booked for a particular time.
I kind of get the luxury 'cos you're worth it' products as well, though don't really subscribe - we have to keep our mental health up and if that helps then all good...
The people out and about 'demanding' haircuts etc don't seem to be those who are actually cutting the hair!I wanna be in the room where it happens15 -
Well, my sister is a child minder. She hasn't been working during lockdown, as had no children of key workers. One of them has called her today to say she won't be sending child back now, and they won't be starting school in September until she sees some string evidence that you can't catch it twice and it is safe again. Her older child picked up covid from school just before schools closed and lockdown began. The child passed it onto all family members, including the grandparents and everyone was very ill (yes all were tested and found positive). The grandparents, on the Dad's side, both died within a day of each other because of it.
That definitely focuses the mind.February wins: Theatre tickets20 -

That is a really good point, pineapple and something we forget (including me)... it's not about individuals getting it, it's about who they will pass it on to.
euronorris - that is really sobering and devastatingly sad.I wanna be in the room where it happens21 -
I wish you one and all very good luck in getting through the next few months, stay safe all of you whatever your view is on the pandemic.17

That's really awful, euronorris, how very sad. I don't blame the mother at all not sending her children back to school. This is a very difficult time and we really don't have anything like enough answers yet. Stay safe, everyone.

I doubt we will be sending our child in September for various reasons, he is still so little and knows no different as he hasn't started yet and I don't want this to be his new "normal" not until if and when it has to be. Everywhere is sold out of children's paint online, I didn't think that would be one of the things hard to find.

-taff said:our government is quite happy none of it's citizens in any numbers can see what the rest of Europe are saying about the sh*t show that s the UK at the moment.Belgium is actually worse (which is no consolation). Their total death toll is just over 9,000 but per head of population that's 66 deaths per 100,000 people which is the worst in the world! So bad that doctors and nurses turned their backs to the Prime Minister when she was visiting a hospital. Belgium have just passed a law allowing unqualified staff to undertake nursing duties during the pandemic, and doctors and nurses are understandably outraged.
