Thanks I shall look into that, he isnt showing signs of having it yet but was in on Friday with the little boy who does have it and his spots came out yesterday I've got my fingers crossed that he doesn't get it this year along with his little bother. They also have 1 case of scarlet fever last week, i'm hoping we avoid that as not sure what would happen if we would need to isolate as it would be a fever?! This whole thing is mind boggling.KDF said:
Hi, I don’t normally post but when I read this comment I wanted to share that we found Virasoothe gel very helpful when my son had chickenpox - that was about 8 years ago so am not sure if it is still available or if there is something even better these days. It’s a colourless non sticky gel in a tube designed for chickenpox. Hope your little one soon feels betterThriftygifty said:
I also work with someone who said if he has it hes going to work as cant afford the time off work, I know for a fact that is complete rubbish.9 -
I was tested for it when DS2 arrived as we had visitors who then turned out to have chicken pox apparently i'm immune, my Mum cant remember me ever having it. We are banning pretty much everyone from meeting baby due this spring which might seem OTT but they dont need to see him in person.Suffolksue said:Thrifty ,have you had chicken pox ,you should probably tell your midwife in case you need a blood test to check your immunity levels10 -
I await the first sightings of Boots delivery vans with the words "No hand sanitizers kept in this vehicle overnight" lol
Normal people worry me.17 -
It’s not OTT at all. My daughter and her husband had the entire first week at home on their own – they didn’t even post it on Instagram or anything because they didn’t want loads of visitors. This was at the end of January.Thriftygifty said:

I'm twitching slightly now about all the wedding preps; DS2 & his lady-love are due to get married in the south of France in September & we're all tagging along too. I'm rather hoping that the worst will be past by then & everything can go ahead as expected, but there's a question mark hovering now at the back of my mind. Everyone's so excited, and having such a lovely time putting ideas together; I don't want to put a damper on it, but - ooh 'eck, there's a small but distinct possibility that it may not be possible to travel...Angie - GC Nov 25 £149.77/£450: 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 40/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)10

Speaking as a retired professional wedding photographer familiar with the additional problems that can and do arise at the best of times with weddings abroad, all I'll say is that if it was my son, I'd want to know what Plan B is. And I'd want to know now, not in August ...thriftwizard said:I'm twitching slightly now about all the wedding preps; DS2 & his lady-love are due to get married in the south of France in September & we're all tagging along too. My first lines of peas are sprouting!I can’t believe that someone asked on another thread - what do you do when you run out of seeds? That shows how detached people are from where and how their food comes from, and why forward planning is so important.I expected Toilet rolls and hand gel to have run out at HBargains but also saw that the Multipacks of crisps and snacks had taken a battering. It’s funny what people stock up on.9

If anyone has booked holidays etc I would suggest sorting your travel ins asap if not already done, Aviva has scaled back its cover so presume others will follow suit.6

Thankfully I am cautious enough to have booked our holiday insurance in June or July last year, and we are covered

I work with someone who was at the time of question in their late 20s he asked how potatoes were grown, I looked at him as if he had grown 3 heads and told they grew on trees.3secondmemory said:My first lines of peas are sprouting!I can’t believe that someone asked on another thread - what do you do when you run out of seeds? y Mum just popped over (they live next door) in a mild panic saying how is she meant to stock up for 2 weeks, she normally goes shopping every other day and doesn't have much freezer room, then I remembered I had a table top freezer in the loft that I kept just in case.9
