My niece couldn’t take me food shopping, I didn’t need anything so I asked her to take me to B&Q and I picked up 60 L of compost. I’m just waiting for my Amazon growbag is to be delivered. The weather doesn’t look great tomorrow but at least it’s not raining.
my first lot of peas are germinating on the window sill and the kitchen table is now the indoor potting area
I’ve moved my coffee table over to the wall so the centre of the living room is now the home Pilates/yoga/breathing exercise area.
It’s taken me a long time to come to terms with having to to be at home – it’s awful that it’s taken a pandemic to make me appreciate it.
It’s really not going to be too bad though. I don’t see utilities being cut or restricted. I have a friend who is a teacher in China and he is coping very well having been in lockdown since late January. He is stir crazy though, and missing human company even though they’ve got the Internet. He has been practising tai chi and playing general knowledge quizzes online.10 -
I hope your holiday gets cancelled Euronorris so you get the money back and can reschedule for another time. It would be a shame if you had to go with all this going on.
We did Florida 4 years ago and it was amazing. Theme parks are not at all my sort of thing and I thought I would be bored but it was a holiday I will never forget. If you can reschedule its worth considering pre xmas time before it gets too busy. We did that and saved over £1K by coming back Christmas morning! It was such a lovely atmosphere with all the xmas decorations and we got to come home before the parks got too busy (the last couple of days of the holiday the parks were starting to get crowded).8 -
We had a trip to Go Outdoors the camping shop this afternoon and if anyone needs gas cannisters for camping stoves they had a very decent stock on their shelves and we were almost the only people in there.
To combat the cabin fever of being indoors for anything up to two weeks I've been combing the charity shops for books that I haven't read and have over a dozen waiting. We have dvd's for if the TV schedule is out of kilter and I shall pick up and borrow more from the shop tomorrow to watch and return, I am going to find some puzzle books this week and HWK will pick up some jigsaws from the shop tomorrow, I will actively look for one of the mindfulness adult colouring books too. We have the grow bags for the greenhouse now so can get the plants into them and the watering system set up in the fullness of time. I may try for crossword, word search and sudoku books as well to try to keep the little grey cells turning over. I also hope very much that these threads and MSE are able to keep functioning as they are a lifeline to all of you posters to keep us in touch with what the situation is in different areas, we'll need that friendship over the next few weeks very much.10 -
I love florida. I've been fortunate enough to go several times in the past, though the last time was 12 years ago now. Rescheduling will be tricky. DD not in school yet, so we took advantage of being able to go in a relatively quieter time, not being too hot and without falling foul of taking her out of school. So, if it gets cancelled, we might not go for another few years.
Nevermind, what will be will be. Holidays are a luxury after all.
We added a few tins of rice pudding to our stash recently. I can make it easy enough, but it would use a fair amount of milk to do so, so I figured a few tins would be a luxury to have (especially when paired with fruit).February wins: Theatre tickets8 -
For some reason some in Wuhan did have to use stand pipes, probably a local burst pipe.I would not be booking any holidays this year, if it gets over 3K in the uk i recon the is chance for the to be a second wave going into winter, if it actually drops off over summer at all.6

We've got everything we're likely to need and stopped going out now. Did the final stockup at Costco on Sunday morning.Even in a normal winter I can go for weeks without seeing anybody apart from the odd neighbour walking their dog in the field, so it will be business as usual - the only thing I'll miss is my rare day out in Edinburgh. On sunny days we can take a drive to the hills or the beach for a walk.I'm gobsmacked at how the whole of Europe is trying their best to fight this - and only this country has a PM who went to the rugby at the weekend and decided to go ahead with Cheltenham. Absolute cretin.12

Thriftygifty said:I dropped my son at nursery this morning and they said they have had a case of chicken pox, I now need to look into supplies incase this hits our house and we are stuck as other son will get it at same time, which then lead me to worry that parents are at risk of shingles. I admit I did actually breakdown and cry in the middle of the nursery, highly embarrassing but also 8m pregnant and final straw.
I also read that it would peak in May, im getting tge garden stocked with activities/supplies - play sand, compost, charcoal for bbq, suncream anything that doesnt require us leaving our mini bubble fortunately we have enough space to keep the kids entertained. I did read about the latest person who died it made sad reading that his family weren't with him as they were self isolated, it hadn't dawned on me this would be the case.9 -
There is also a chicken pox vaccine available privately for children over 1. Its 2 jabs, at least 4 weeks apart. Boots and superdrug both do it. Boots you can either pay per injection, £75 each, or both at the same time for £140. We had DD (3) vaccinated last year.February wins: Theatre tickets9
