TBH, I think the GP did the right thing. As was pointed out, that guy should not have gone to his GP. He should have rung 111 and explained. The GP needs to limit his/her own exposure (the last thing we need is doctors falling ill with it - we need them, and we don't want them passing it onto every other patient they see, most of whom will already be ill or have an underlying health condition). They also need to limit his exposure to other patients who were currently in the practice, and I suspect they may have had to disinfect too. If he'd stayed there, they would have had to use a room to isolate him (which they may not have a spare one available), which would be another room that would then need to be disinfected!

I wouldn’t trust a GP with that At all. They are under staffed , have lost interest or the will to do the job, and due to both are stressed and miss now the simplest of things. They just haven’t got time to do anything. The reason A&E is packed out too, I know, I work for the nhs and I wouldn’t trust it.
Goes for some consultants too. I have a chronic condition and it's my misfortune to be seeing one who seems to ricochet between different hospitals over a wide rural area. You are on the clock as soon as you go through the door and he never seems up to speed or be able to find test results - which he doesn't have time to discuss anyway. :(

Some months ago, we were considering what to stock up on and staples like loo roll & tea were agreed on.
Imagine my astonishment to read the headline "PG Tips could be sold by Unilever as cuppa goes out of fashion"

The guidance for GPs is here:

Euronorris is right, there's a lot of disinfecting that has to be done so I guess if you think you've got it, stay home and phone the GP.

A suspected case in York, Chinese tourist taken ill, but not confirmed. If it can happen there, it can happen anywhere that tourists might go.

Think I'd like to volunteer for a fortnight's quarantine at home just to be on the safe side, but I can see my boss's expression if I suggest this...

Apparently they mean that fewer people are drinking proper tea and more are drinking herbal teas. Before I read the article I assumed it was going to be about more people drinking coffee instead!

Well good luck with that one I say. Let's hope this can be contained before it gets into the wider population - ie those with no suspect travel history/associations. Because you can't treat everyone presenting with a 'winter bug' as a potential 'plague' carrier.

Ah, I have to say that the loose leaf PG tips tastes a little stale to me. It is packed only in paper & cardboard boxes in the name of recycling. I prefer Yorkshire Tea, as that is still in plastic/foil packs.

Not sure what the answer is there, if I want to be environmentally friendly.

This morning's news says there are now two confirmed cases in England. Officials won't say where but newspaper sources suggest it's Newcastle. Both members of the same family
It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!

I come from Yorkshire and I won't buy Yorkshire Tea on principle. What's it supposed to mean? Grown in the foothills of Barnsley?

Plus 2 possible/suspect cases in London and Bristol. My thoughts are with those people still stranded in Wuhan. I hope we can work with other countries to bring out the rest who want to leave. It seems the issue is as much about getting transport to them as arranging a plane.
