Afternoon everyone :hello:
As I've done my only outing of the day and am back in my jammies I think I'm safe to declare a nsd. I've been out tutoring, but went straight there and back. Finished boxing up leftovers and putting stuff in the freezer, did a little bit of a tidy up and put some washing on.
Then spent a bit of time coming up with January's challenge and wrote myself a few lists of things to do urgently, and a list of frogs I need to deal with over the coming days and weeks.
I have to fix a door handle tomorrow - at the moment I've bodged it but if I don't want to be locked in (or out) of my living room then I need to replace it. It's beyond repair (but I have repaired it 3x previously).
Other than that, more relaxing, more small changes, and more time with people I love.
Today I'm grateful for:
Earning some extra money at tutoring
Being able to do nothing once I got home
Watching films with the kids
Loads of food in the house. Not giving up
Working hard to pay off my debt
Time to take back control

Thank you, Dolly. I'm sure it will work out - just a wee bit difficult at the moment. I hope you're feeling better today.
I was out today for the first time in days. Just a short walk but better then nothing, Written down all the things that I have to do next week and when I have to do them so feeling a bit more in control. Quite a lot but I'll manage.
Whilst I was away I saw a beautiful jacket (not that I needed it) but the shop didn't have it in my size. It arrived today in the post. Himself has got my friend to order it for me as a late birthday present. I know it was a special birthday but I am feeling really nervous about the amount of money he has spent on my presents. Anyway, that's me all sorted for my next trip away.
Talking of that I got a message from one of the hotels we are staying in. A big, well known chain and not inexpensive. Apparently they have an "international event" taking place and have, therefore, had to cancel the middle two nights of our four night booking. Given that our reservation was made in April and we would be there in a couple of weeks I can only assume that they need our room because they've got a better offer. I am not pleased and have made it very plain that I will never consider booking with their group again. On the plus side I have managed to book a very nice hotel in a more convenient location at a better price. However, it makes me so angry that they think it is OK to do this.
So, in a little while I will be making liver, bacon and onions (just right for such a cold day!) and getting the chicken out of the freezer for tomorrow's curry. Then off to bed.Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.0 -

Oh, Toni's friend, what poor service from that hotel!
How on earth did they think that cancelling the middle 2 nights of 4 would be acceptable
NSD here - I haven't been out and OH only went to pharmacy for his repeat 'scrip (not there) No plans to buy anything online, eitherWill go to Sains tomorrow - only need a couple of things, but I can also get something in there for my mum to give DS2 for his bday and then use a MOV and can split the savings between us :T Need something from Icyland too, but that is only a couple of hundred yards from there and I can use my L2S vouchers :T
Today I am thankful for my mum wondering if anyone wanted a CD player/ DAB radio/ Ip0d dock combo unit - as our CD player started playing up just before Xmas (its around 20 years old or more, so can't complain) I am very grateful - it's (the one from my mum) only 2 or 3 years old and a decent make and free! :j. Am also grateful for the children playing nicely together, for more leftovers being eaten up and for all the recycling being collected :TI am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soulRepaid mtge early (orig 11/25) 01/09 £124616 01/11 £89873 01/13 £52546 01/15 £12133 07/15 £NILNet sales 2024: £200 -
Oh dear - where do the days go at this time of year? I've not posted for yonks again. We're back from our roadtrip visiting family. Having huge problems with DD sleeping (or not as the case is), struggling with weaning, and today she has worked out how to throw a temper tantrum. Oh good!
I have very much entered the sales this year, perhaps more than previously, but I am pretty pleased with what I have. Since falling pregnant with DD I've put myself further and further down the list of priorities. I have either ordered or purchased things that I have spent the year thinking I would like/need/could do with, at a discount. I do not get presents from DH or anyone other than my parents so I don't feel like I'm drowning in new stuff. Not bought anything that doesn't bring me joy, as the Marie Kondoists would put it! Or essential, like nursing bras with working elastic and knickers so I don't need to wash pairs in the sink because I don't own enough pairs!! Actually both of these things make me happy too!
Need to consult paper diary for NSDs and budgets. Good news is I think we've still only spent about half the grocery budget! :-/0 -
Oh and apple I bloody love world's strongest Man too! I considered doing strong woman at one point but I am half a foot shorter and 20kg lighter than most competitors which put me off; even thought I knew I was capable of a lot of it height does matter...
Tonight's dinner is Jack Monroe's bean goulash and rice. Need a break from nibbles...0 -
Well I did the rubbish but not much else. Full bin bag from my room, added stuff from the bathroom and then kept compacting it to add some of their contributions (think they have 'tidied' the front room - ie put everything they can find into any bags lying around and left it in the kitchen). Recycling bin is nearly full, mine was sorted, found some mixed with other rubbish and they had also lined up a number of large empty bottles sort of under the table and by a chair.
I've always wanted to make one of those greenhouses from 2l bottles threaded onto garden canes but have recently seen hobbit holes in the sahara made by filling plastic bottles with sand and binding them in a large circle which gets gradually smaller like a large igloo. (Wondering how far I could get without the neighbours noticing/ objecting - they object to anything/ anyone who doesn't worship at the large screen tv).
Food was cheese with raw mushrooms, tomatoes, mange tout, chantenay carrots and grapes (I was a devil and did not count the grapes, just finished them off).
I have rolled my enormous quilt up into a giant ball and propped my feet on it (bliss) and started a 'things to differently next year' list
1 Finally used up the wrapping paper I had (not bought any for two years) and will not be buying more. Bought gift bags and will have some to re-use but other wise will use 'bags for life - have a selection of festive ones now)
2 Used all the cards. Actually ran out and there were some that I did not return. One of the neighbours didn't send me one last year but did this, The neighbour who sent a card last year, pushed one through the door on the last minute. Had 2 for my cousins which I was keeping in my shopping bag as I often see one of my cousins at the library and he has Sunday lunch at his sister's. Ankle messed things up and a lot of things did not get done.
Very fed up with the whole card thing anyway so not buying more - will make up the remaining embroidered ones and then try to do a 'no card' pact with as many people as possible.
3 Rather enjoyed the small bag of gifts I prepared for the guests/ Beloved but will aim to make a few bits during the year using up odd craft items.
4 Write food list and tick things off as I order them (so don't end up with 3 lots of eggs and 3 cucumbers - all of which will be used). Trying to write down what I have ordered whilst dealing with unresponsive websites doesn't work.
5 Assume I will injure myself in some way or there will be some minor catastrophe and do things like the food bank donation early.
Today I am grateful for easy food, lots of rest, good books and undemanding company (I was asked for a towel yesterday, otherwise it's just been gratitude and thanks for what I've provided). My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0 -
Lavenderbee - I didn't even know that there was a women's one until it was mentioned in passing on yesterday's prog. I'll be looking that one up!
Today I am grateful for going swimming with dd, for the receptionist at the pool remembering that dd did a swim course there back at half term, for booking dd onto lessons next month, for David Walliams' Midnight Gang, for getting a workout done, for dd's friend calling round for her to play out, for seeing our local jay, for looking through my old crafting books and magazines to get some ideas, for the fairy lights still looking awesome, for not even thinking about going to the sales (dd needs more nix, but that's all).NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
Today was the second-biggest day of the holidays for me: my nephew and his wife had spent Christmas with her rellies in Scotland, so today they had a special meal with my sister, and I was invited along too. Very lovely, and not as tiring (or as long) as Christmas.
Gratitudes: being included in that meal today; being close enough geographically that that's always an option; having my own place to come back to and be nice and quiet2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
