NST December 2018 – Exterminate the debt!

Pretend Xmas cake in the oven (it's a fruitcake that's taken the pledge), kids ate birthday cake for breakfast (cream not icing) and listening to Chris Evans last breakfast show.
One kid wants to go into town today (urgh!) two others want to go to different supermarkets ( I guess they are food gifts then!). Feeling surprisingly relaxed, but then if it were not for me I don't think even the tree would even go up. I suggested maybe the wi-fi could do with a break this Christmas Day and was met with looks of horror and dismay. Oh well,
I need to accept that nobody really gives a stuff about Xmas except the presents. I am a people person, they are introverts. I might just explore the local pub on Christmas Day! It has been nearly 3 years and I have not even entered a public house in the county. Thinking of volunteering next year and being elsewhere.
I will just accept them for what they are.
But I am feeling acceptance for our differences. Not resentment. Which is good.
DS4 had a good birthday yesterday and was delighted with his gifts and his birthday meal out (£50 for 6 including drinks) and now he is 9 he was really well behaved.
Will go out when the cake is baked.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

I haven't posted in ages and it's been a spendy few days in London, however now I'm at my Mum's place in the countryside (ish) and looking forward to grabbing a few last minute NSDs now all the shopping is out of the way!
Hope everyone is doing well. Off now to catch up on posts xStudent loan £5655

Apologies, I have inadvertently disappeared. A busy few days getting everything ready not just before Christmas, but before we drive 300 miles on Xmas morning to visit family. Journey + Xmas away from home + baby bee = many, many logistics to plan! Still, we're getting here. I think I'm on 11/15 NSDs, will need to check the paper organiser. Budgets so far this month looking very happy and £60 under budget for Christmas, so we'll put that towards next year
lost an NSD when I discovered that I had run out of sellotape yesterday. Who runs out of sellotape on 23 December... DH has been fantastic looking after DD whilst I am a whirling dervish of activity and wheeled her into town to get more. Bought a present for a small child rather than attempt to find time to finish the crappy gift I was making. It just wasn't happening, I couldn't make enough hours in the day, and we had plenty left in the kitty to do so. Will finish it for next year instead.
Gratitudes
- DH looking after DD so much so I can get things done, including a bath (which is where your correspondent currently is, first time I've had a chance to catch up and post!)
- all chores cease at 3pm and we're having a little Christmas afternoon between us before early night and travelling. Xmas TV and nibbles here we come!
- DD growing so well I've had to dig out bigger clothes for her
- having lots of lovely Xmas nibbles, that didn't break the bank to procure
- that I survive surprisingly well on the 3 X 1 hour sleeps per night DD has permitted me this last few weeks0 -
Happy Hugmass turtles.
Ankle is sprained so 6 weeks recovery time.
Going to mum's soon, anything not done will be left.
Grateful that ankle is not broken, for the NHS, a lovely doctor and pleasant reception staff, for having enough food (food and presents are enough - tidy-ish will do).My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0 -

Sorry to hear about your ankle Mothernerd but I am very pleased that you had it looked at.
Relaxing day today for me, although I did have to pop out at 8am to the pharmacy at the top of our street as dd is still a bit unwell and complaining of heartburn so I decided to get her some gavisc0n as it's been a few days now.
Then watched some tv, caught up for a couple of hours with bestie and am now just about to get the kids bathed and open our Christmas Eve box (home made).
Today I'm grateful for:
1. Good friends
2. Finally finding the source of the cat pee smell (although why they would pee under the Christmas tree is beyond me)
3. The cosy feeling at home with me, kids and cats
4. Plenty of food and drink
Not giving up
Working hard to pay off my debt

Oh no! What a horrible thing to happen just before Christmas. Take care, look after yourself and get DS and Beloved to look after you.
Weill, I have had the laziest day ever, Done absolutely nothing and have really enjoyed it.
We're going away for a month in January/ February. I had booked our hotels but today I found fantastic deal on a hotel in Amsterdam that I've always wanted to stay in so I've rebooked and cancelled the one we had. Can't wait.
I hope you all have a lovely Christmas. Relax, don't stress and enjoy. xxxxHave adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.0 -
Today I am grateful for a crisp and clear day, for dd and I fulfilling our 2 missions of the day, for simple food, for time with dd, for the prototype teddy turning out ok, for dd texting me when she was out to let me know that she was on her way home, for twinkly lights, for a video call with step dd1 + gs, for hm guacamole, for it being Christmas eve! :xmassmile

Merry Christmas to everyone when it comes. I've spent the day cooking the main bits for me and OHs Christmas dinner. HM steak pie and a HM Chocolate orange cheesecake. The cheesecake is a recipe use by the Home Economics department at school and when I saw the kids making it a few weeks ago I asked them for the recipe. It's been years since I did HM cheesecake so hoping it turns out ok.
As an introvert I struggle with the festive season as being around lots of people socially can leave me feeling drained and I end up going back to work feeling more exhausted than when I finished up. Tomorrow I am spending most of the day just with OH and then joining family in the evening to exchange gifts. I have arranged to meet people during the holiday but have also made sure I have factored in time to myself. I am grateful for family and friends this Christmas but I am also grateful for quiet time to recharge.
Kerry woman - sending hugs.
Mothernerd - sorry to hear about your ankle. I hope it heals quickly.0
