Well, well done to whoever it is wot won it! Let us know quickly.

Back on the original topic ( :D ) I thought I'd chuck in another observation of mine.

We recently moved to an ex-pit village where there are a lot of old family values still knocking around. They think they're being all equal opportunities, but to the men here this means letting the women carry the sacks of potatoes while they amble alongside reading a newspaper.

However, if a laydee is not at home preparing meals for her loved ones, she's what they call a "pudding burner". What this really means is that she's in the pub beating them at dominoes when she should be at home cooking lunch, and, ergo, letting the Yorkshire pudding burn, but it's quite an insult.

So when our carpet fitter almost swooned at the smell of home baking coming from our house, I was, I admit, rather surprised. Everyone still cooks home made stuff here, yet still it's hugely appreciated. :)

Back on the original subject too, I have just attempted the first ever victoria sponge in my gas oven. admittedly one side did slope again slightly (can't work out why now) DH has just devoured two huge slices and told me that professional chefs would be jealous :D:D:D

So I've mastered the sponge, now on to christmas cake. Shame I didn't win Queenies recipe.

I'm about to have my very own reaction to home made in about... 9 minutes :)

Test drove my new Kenwood Chef and let it make some pastry for me. Did one tray of lemon curd tarts - yum! And was about to do the other tray as jam when I remembered one of my favourite puds from school. Cornflakes in golden syrup. So now I've got twelve miniature ones on the go :)

Yeah. Don't forget - it's even cheaper from Amazon right now, should anyone feel tempted. I've always wanted one and I love it to bits already :)

I tried one of the cornflake and syrup ones - definitley need smothering in custard. :D
