there is nothing so nice as walking into a house with the smell of baking in it....... rather poetic for OH I thought.......But I'm going to say this once, and once only, Gene. Stay out of Camberwick Green0

Not technically a reply to myself but I thought you might have a laugh at this.
I have just announced to OH that I need more baking trays (well it is our wedding anniversary next week so I'm giving him ideas!!). I currently only have a pitiful selection (2 x loaf tins, 2 x bun tins and 1 x flan dish and 1 x sponge tin with springy bit - I did inherit more off my Mum but some are that old I'm not too keen to use them and am keeping them more for sentimental reasons - rust on the bottom of your moulded pattern mince pie anyone?). I pointed out that we can go to a car boot and have a mooch. His respons e? "We need to tidy up the dining room"
eh? I wasn't going to buy that many........

Nope Stilton and yule log (well sorry not technically a cake you'll say but sweet desert for us) don't go that well together....I lost my job as a cricket commentator for saying “I don’t want to bore you with the details”.Milton Jones0 -
I send my kids to school with all sorts of little goodies in their lunch boxes that I make. Whether baked biscuits/cakes, homemeade cereal bars (much better than Alpen in my opinion!) or my own home made strawberry yoghurt. Their mates love them too, I guess it makes a change considering most of them have shop bought biscuits, tubes of yougurt (with countless other ingredients) and a packet of crisps in their lunch boxes.
I think part of the reason people are surprised is that you actually took the time to make something (that is much healthier) rather than just throw something in the trolley when you are shopping.
But the truth is, it really doesn't take that much time!Sexkitten
Good things come to those who wait......... but the best will be taken by those who got there first

The problem with baking is when you take it seriuosly you need soo many tins. Cakes don't taste the same according to their shape and my kitchen space is very limited.
Especially when i stock up on bogofs and end up trying to cram the 25 cereal boxes in every cupboard that's not already full.I lost my job as a cricket commentator for saying “I don’t want to bore you with the details”.Milton Jones0 -

OOoooh Lucie - Mrs Whiteley was "posh" - we didn't get to make such delights as individual fruit tartletsRage_in_Eden wrote:His respons e? "We need to tidy up the dining room"

Queenie :rotfl: I don't think I ever got to make the legendary IFT, they were reserved for her "best" pupils to make when parents/govenors had to be impressed at post-speech day tea & other such pompous occasions that my school were oh-so-fond of.
Mado - I'm having storage problems too - came home from Costco last night with masses of rice & pasta, as well as a huge bottle of oil & case of bottled water. They are currently on top of kitchen cupboards cos if I put them under the bed I'll forget about them!0
