    If you are a serving or former member of the UK military, and have ID proving that, some of the theme parks let you in for free. This includes Busch Gardens in Tampa, which is worth the drive over from Orlando.

    According to the link, you have to be an "active" member and not retired

    So will the ticket have any mention of promo on (regard to southwestairline code) and will i be quwstioned at gate? Thanks. Hubbies in the police, do you think they'll let us in free?:o

    You order online and print out an e-ticket and present at the gate (they say to take ID but I haven't been asked for that either) and no questions are asked. Once in Seaworld go to Customer Services and they will give you a "normal" ticket for the "free day" which can be used over the next 7 days.

    Anybody know of any Gun clubs or Ranges where i can go and hire and fire a gun (Under supervision) in Florida ?

    Hi,

    We found information on this subject on the Dibb. We all think it'd be an experience to try it and found a couple of sites/places that allow you to fire a gun/guns. A word of warning though, it seems that these places are generally 'raw' - i.e. you'll find its not at all touristy which can be off putting for some.

    One Dibber had a great time at this place;

    http://www.eastorangess.com/

    Although this seems to be popular too;

    http://www.orlandogunshop.com/index.htm

    A tip to save some money is that you can hire your gun at the range but buy your ammo from a supermarket (forget the name, sorry) as the prices charged at the range for ammo is much higher. Obviously you'd need to have an idea of what guns/ammo you're going to be using.

    You can spend your time alone re digesting past regrets,
    Or you can come to terms and realize you're the only one who can forgive yourself.
    Makes much more sense to live in the present tense.

  • We're going to Orlando on 23rd April, we won a Virgin Holiday voucher so have only had to pay a total of £366 for 9 nights stay in http://www.orlandoqualityinn.com/accommodation.htm for a family of 4, we've still to pay for the WDW tickets - is it best/cheaper to get them over here in the UK or over there?
    We fly from Manchester, any advice on best to keep an 8 year old & a 19 month old who have never flown before occupied on the flight(s)?
    Any advice about how to stop ears hurting etc?
    We haven't booked a seat for the youngest but with 2 adults travelling she'll be ok (hopefully) on knees.
    Any places we must visit & any to avoid when we get there?
    Hubby is looking at purchasing the Post Office Travel Money Card in $ & take some cash as well, it's a VISA Electron card though do you know how available they are to spend over there?
    What's the cheapest/safest to transfer £ to $?
    Sorry too many questions, tbh I'm still in shock that we are actually going & my eldest is far too excited (although the thought of missing school doesn't appeal to her :rolleyes: ) & hyper LOL

    Thanks very much in advance, I hope I've posted this in the right place

  • Wow. Congratulations on your win... that's amazing. We're going next week for the first time (from Manchester also) so I've been glued to the internet looking for info etc.

    I think the general consensus is to buy your park tickets before you go - savings to be made by buying over there are minimal and it means that you don't waste any of your valuable holiday time chasing tickets.

    For park tickets I'd think about where you want to spend most of your time and weigh up wether it's worthwhile buying multi park tickets for both Disney and the other parks. We bought our Flex Tickets (for Universal, Islands of Adventure, Seaworld, Wet n Wild and Aquatica) from themeparkticketsdirect.com and our tickets for the Disney Parks from www.ticketmania.com. As you are going for 9 days you might find this deal useful... buy a 4 day Magic Your Way ticket @ $220 adult/$184 child and they will upgrade them to 7 day tickets. I'm not saying they are the best deal available because I haven't checked around since we bought them but they were ideal for us. You get 7 days entry to any of the 4 main Disney Parks and they expire 14 days after first use. The only minor niggle with them is that you can't go to a different park on the same day but beyond that they seem like pretty good value.

    For our money we did some at Thomas Cook, because we booked through them we got a slightly better rate, but the rest of it we did through Crown Currency Exchange who seem to offer the best online rates and have a good reputation... the longer you wait for your money to be delivered from them, the better the rate you can get. But really the difference in rates from one place to another isn't that great so I'd just go where you're comfortable or where it's most convenient for you.

    Virgin offer quite a bit of inflight entertainment which will probably occupy your 8 year old for a while. As for your youngster, well, they're all different aren't they? We've travelled long haul with both our children when they were a similar age... from my experience I'd say hands down the most important thing is a change of clothes for both you and the children... I've been vomited on twice and had the terror of a high altitude leaky nappy on various flights and the last thing you want (or indeed your fellow passengers) is to have to sit there covered in... well you get the picture!

    Another recommendation I'd make is this book. I've looked at a lot over the last few months and this would appear to be pretty exhaustive.

    Hope you have a great trip. :)

    Hi,

    Few questions - we're planning on flying to Orlando and renting an RV around 12th May this year. We then plan on driving to St Augustine and all the way down to Florida Keys and back to Orlando. We want to do it in two weeks - is it comfortable or are we pushing it? Do we have to stop at campsites or can you suggest some free parking (I've heard about WalMart)? Do we have to book campsites in advance?
    Now, RV we were thinking about is a c22 type - it's got 2 seats at the front - can we position/is there third seat so that our 3-year old daughter can seat somewhere in the middle/just behind us and not get bored? Do we need special seat for her? Can anyone recommend cheap RV rental company, please?
    Also, flights i've found are direct with opodo £1246 12-27/05 2 adults and 1 child - can anyone beat that?

    And lastly - any general tips, recommendations? We don't want to do theme parks - just enjoy the drive :)
    Thanks,
    Adam

    Yes there is, On the corner of I-Drive and Carrier Drive (the road where Pirates dinner show is). It is within the ABC supermarket. They are one of the few places that sell the Lynx bus passes.
