If you are a serving or former member of the UK military, and have ID proving that, some of the theme parks let you in for free. This includes Busch Gardens in Tampa, which is worth the drive over from Orlando.
Hi Sharonace, can you (or anyone else) point me in the direction of further info regarding this and which other parks/attractions may participate in this scheme?
Thanks x0 -
Seaworld and Busch Gardens both have ticket booths at the gate specifically for members of the military and their families.

Yep, Aquatica is very good, It has a tube slide through a pool with dolphins swimming in it. It also has about 20 other good slides in groups of 4s and 2s for adults. There is an entire section for children and the usual lazy river etc. On top of this there are two wave pools.
The seating/ sun bathing area is a lot better that at wet n wild overall I preferred Aquatica. Disneys water parks looked good as well though but I didn't try them.
Aim to go to Aquatica at about 4:30pm and stay until it closes at 7, this way you will get to have the slides more or less to yourself from about 5:30 - 6pm.
It can get quite busy at other times. If there is anything else in particular you want to know just ask.
Oh, you can also hire towels and lockers at the park, so no need to carry all your stuff about with you.0 -
Is the water warm in the lazy river, thats about my limit at a water park :whistle:0

Haha - mine too!
We went to W&W years back and I don't really 'do' water. After getting half drowned on some simple looking affair I decided that the only other safe option for me (as it didn't involve more than a couple of inches of water) was the almost vertical 'death-slide' thingy.
I plucked up the courage (from goodness only knows where) to go on it, and half way down my bikini-top and I parted company
Never again - bring on a nice safe lazy river and that'll do me nicely :rotfl:0 -
Thanks for the info on Aquatica. We'll be visiting there in less than a fortnight... getting excited now!
Here's a review of Aquatica I found last week...

The water in the lazy river was warm. Not like a bath, but pleasant. On the Aquatica website it says this:
Water Temperature
At Aquatica, the water is as warm as the South Seas themselves--actually, warmer. We have a state-of-the-art climate control system that adjusts the water temperature according to the weather so that it's always just right. The water can be heated up to 84 degrees.0 -
Thanks so much sharonace for that. My cousin is retired military as he was injured in service. He'll love this tip! Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.
