Money - I take all cash and put it in the room safe. That way I can budget day to day and money is there already. However have always brought back home money as so cheap

Please don't take all your spending money as cash to Orlando; there's no need as there are so many other safe options. If you lose it or it gets taken, you really are going to kick yourself! For people wanting to tightly budget Travellers Cheques are great and accepted like cash.

Hi i am new to this so here goes.
We are looking for flights to Orlando Florida in August, does anyone know of any cheap sites. We are looking for 2 weeks 2 adults 2 kids. I have searched quite a few and the prices are huge.
I have read some of the messages and people have managed to get cheap flights what are we doing wrong?
Hope someone can point us the right way.

It's never easy to get cheap flights to Florida in peak season (school holidays) and the cheapest way is to either book very early or very late. You've missed the chance to book very early so just keep an eyeout for offers. Expedia did a great deal last year for August which gave flights at approx £400 which is excellent for August.

You could try and pick up a last minute charter flight, but you'll need to be flexible on dates as there are 4 of you, and you may not get lucky.

Generally going indirect, flying midweek is cheapest, with one of the American airlines eg Delta, Continental, AA etc.

    What is your budget?

i agree with the travellers cheques - i got ID'ed quite a few places - but i think this was because im 23 and look quite young.
we went to FL last june and i budgeted my self to a $50 cheque a day, which was fine for the 2 of us.
hoping to go back next september/october (which is apparently the quietest time of year at disney!)

Agree, I would also add if you are good with money only take a few travellers cheques and the trusty Nationwide (possibly Post Office I think) credit card you will get close to the bank rate and they dont charge you for using it abroad.

    Hi there!

Want to travel to Orlando Florida for a week. Either leaving Monday 17th-Monday 24th March (there abouts) or April 7th-14th (One week somewhere in then).

Can anyone suggest cheapest flights? Had a look around, but can't see any deals or whatnot! Don't know whether to leave it til the last minute to book, and if so, whether to go in March or April? Can fly from Glasgow or Manchester, and if at a push (and it's cheap enough :p) London.

Any help would be appreciated. Already read through the thread, checked out the links posted throughout (and on the first page), but thought any other advice would be good!

Have you tried any other airports rather than Orlando? We returned from Florida after spending christmas there.

If you plan on hiring a car then I would suggest you may look at flying into St Petersburg or Daytona airport, both of these are a short drive from orlando, prices are up at the moment for around £350 to £405 between now and April, flying from London.

Driving over there is SO much easier than here and I would strongly recommend adding a SAT NAV to the hire price of the car. We used one and it was so simple got us door to door with no problems at all.

try to catch one of the halloween nights at either Disney or Universal. Disney - great with or without kids, Universal - no go area with kids, you will be scared out of your wits! About the money if you take all cash it really isnt a big wad, just get all $50 bills.

Has anyone stayed in Pop century disney/used dining plan at disney?

    Is it worth it?!!

i stayed there last year and going back there this year. found it better than the all-stars and they have there own bus the other ones tend to sometimes do drop offs at the other all-stars resorts and buses can be more busy. Pop century a lot bigger and beside a lake. nice for a walk after eating about a stone in weight!

From what I have read online, a car is really a must in Florida.

Probably wrong though so who knows. I'm gonna hire a car for my June trip anyway.

We paid £2,200 for 4 people(£2,700 total with villa price) , detatched villa/house including flight & premium seats.
a car a must if you have a villa but if your staying on i-drive or disney you dont unless you are going to be travelling beyond there.
