Different strokes for different folks, we love AK but agree about epcot. If you have never been to Disney start at epcot and you will be impressed, then when you visit the others your time will get better.

Has anyone actually spend over a day at Epcot. It really seems like a 1/2 day to 1 day park to me.

We usually do Epcot over two days - we do the Futureworld part fairly early in the trip, before our bodyclocks have adjusted properly and we're still waking up early. We get there before opening, do all the most popular rides before the queues start to build up, and get fastpasses to come back later. This means we're usually done by late afternoon so back to hotel to swim, eat outside park and hit the hay.
Later in the trip we go back to do World Showcase - can have a lie in and get there later as WS doesn't open until 11am (?) - do the different countries in a fairly leisurely manner and then stay to watch the fireworks.

OMG you have some planning to do then :)

I really would recommend a guide book. Juz's family guide is good but a new version is out this year, or the Brits Guide as that covers all fo Orlando. book. I think the main question I would try to answer is....

Complete Disney or a bit of everything?

If the former, then nice stay at one of the Disney Hotels would be brilliant. But as its your first trip then maybe you want to see it all! Thats a fun thing to do and you will be very busy!

As for areas, I would reconmend a hotel at maybe Lake Buena Vista or maybe a two hotel stay with a few days in one of the excellent Universal Hotels as well.

So much choice really you need to think long and hard about what you want to see.

    cheers
    Craig

Hi would really love to stay at animal kingdom hotel but it works out too expensive!

We would like a villa somewhere I think with a nice pool to dip in on the night.

Will do some of the other parks apart from disney, along with a bit of shopping.

Does anyone know the cheapest way to pay for parking at Disney and Universal studios? I've hired a car and we'll be going for a few days and wanted to know if I can save from paying daily!

Park at Downtown Disney and get the free bus.

But at only $12 per day i think its reasonable.

Is parking free at Downtown Disney? Do you know how far away it is from the parks?

    Mickeynut again:

Regarding character meals, there are loads! What are your daughter's favourite characters, as we can give you ideas of where to go based on that?

If you want to dine with the Disney princesses you could do Cinderella's Royal Table in Magic Kingdom, which is inside the castle. It's very expensive (even by Disney standards) as they "include" a photo in the price ;) However, it is very special to eat in the castle. The food is OK but not fantastic. The other option for princesses is at Epcot in "Norway" at Restaurant Akershus. Breakfast is standard US fare with lunch & dinner including some Norwegian options, though there is certainly choice for less adventurous eaters too :)

If she likes Winnie the Pooh & friends I highly recommend Crystal Palace in the Magic Kingdom - lovely setting, good food (buffet), great chacter interaction.

My other favourite is Cape May Cafe (in the Beach Club, at the back of Epcot). Breakfast only for characters but Minnie & friends are dressed up in swimming costumes and it's very sweet. They have paper tablecloths and my DDs love to draw on these (they give you crayons), and often the characters will sit down and draw with the children too. Food is good, buffet.

If she likes Lilo & Stich you must go to 'Ohana (characters at breakfast only) at the Polynesian resort (near Magic Kingdom). Food is brought to your table so no choice but standard US fare, and they will keep bringing it until you are full ;)

Finally the perennial experience is at the Contemporary, next to the Magic Kingdom: Chef Mickey's. It's very loud, but most kids love it - buffet food.

    HTH

Depends on age but the little enstiens and jopjo circus lunmch in hollywood stuidos went down a storm with my two as well as the above ones.
