Mickeynut again:
Regarding character meals, there are loads! What are your daughter's favourite characters, as we can give you ideas of where to go based on that?
If you want to dine with the Disney princesses you could do Cinderella's Royal Table in Magic Kingdom, which is inside the castle. It's very expensive (even by Disney standards) as they "include" a photo in the priceHowever, it is very special to eat in the castle. The food is OK but not fantastic. The other option for princesses is at Epcot in "Norway" at Restaurant Akershus. Breakfast is standard US fare with lunch & dinner including some Norwegian options, though there is certainly choice for less adventurous eaters too
If she likes Winnie the Pooh & friends I highly recommend Crystal Palace in the Magic Kingdom - lovely setting, good food (buffet), great chacter interaction.
My other favourite is Cape May Cafe (in the Beach Club, at the back of Epcot). Breakfast only for characters but Minnie & friends are dressed up in swimming costumes and it's very sweet. They have paper tablecloths and my DDs love to draw on these (they give you crayons), and often the characters will sit down and draw with the children too. Food is good, buffet.
If she likes Lilo & Stich you must go to 'Ohana (characters at breakfast only) at the Polynesian resort (near Magic Kingdom). Food is brought to your table so no choice but standard US fare, and they will keep bringing it until you are full
Finally the perennial experience is at the Contemporary, next to the Magic Kingdom: Chef Mickey's. It's very loud, but most kids love it - buffet food.

For anyone with Kids you need to completely ignore the comments re Animal Kingdom. My kids loved the place, it was their favourite park by a mile.
For me Epcot is boring and probably more suited to Teens, but for young kids AK is brilliant.
Probably why AK is not for us, don't have 'young' kids, DD is now a teenager.
Wouldn't life be boring if everyone liked the same things!2.22kWp Solar PV system installed Oct 2010, Fronius IG20 Inverter, south facing (-5 deg), 30 degree pitch, no shadingEverything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the endMFW #4 OPs: 2018 £866.89, 2019 £1322.33, 2020 £1337.07

But could you tell me how much transfer time to allow roughly, from resort to kingdoms??
By bus or car?
I allow 1/2 hour by bus from the gate (bear in mind that the resorts are large and from some resorts it can take ten mins just for the bus to go round the resort so you may need to add a bit on). By car, Epcot and Studios are about 5-10 minutes, Animal Kingdom 15 minutes. MK is the one resort we rarely go to by car, as from the car park you still need to take either the monorail or boat so there is little time difference and it can be a lot less convenient.
When you check out, Disney does the transfer for you. All you need to do is arrange it with bell services in advance. They come and collect your luggage from your room from one resort and transfer it to the other for you. When I read about transfers first that's what I thought you meant so I've written it up anyway. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? wow that is really cheap, i can't find any under £460.
I was thinking of going around 1 of the half terms so my DD's don't miss a full 2 weeks.
I booked this today. The prices all dropped this morning, even on virgin website, I've been looking to book since April but they've been too high up till now. Check out ba website coz they are changing all the time atm0 -
Thanks for all the info KarenG! WOW! It was sooo much easier to go to WDW when we were a couple! Just walk through the gates! But not half as much fun! Your right, the DD is mad on Disney Princess right now, but also nuts about Minnie (she luuurved Minnie's Clip Clopy shoes when we met her in Disneyland Paris last year!) This might be a tip for anyone thinking of booking Disney while this dining plan offer is on. I was origianlly booking us into a moderate Disney hotel & paying the upgrade on the dining plan, BUT if you stay in Resort, the upgraded dining plan is standard, so it wasn't much more expensive to stay in Resort in a studio than in a hotel room, but the only Resorts this was available in was Old Key West & Saratoga Springs (hence why we chose those 2 resorts!) But thanks to KarenG and Vivatifosi, you have put my mind at rest as you have made both resorts sound great! We go on Oct 27th so I think I can start booking my ADR's from 29th July??? But could you tell me how much transfer time to allow roughly, from resort to kingdoms?? Also, do you know if we can use the Dining Plan Vouchers in DTD?? Sorry more questions!! Thankyou all once again!!
You've done totally the right thing in paying a little more to stay in a Deluxe as you get a much better Dining Plan
You're right about the ADRs, and on that date you can book for ten days' worth.
You can use the Dining plan vouchers in most Downtown locations - which ones do you have in mind and I'll link you to where it'll tell you for sure (Allears net is my favourite place)
My DD LOVES Minnie, even though she is ten now her favourite is still Minne0 -

For all those who like to shop, do use the vocher booklets like others in this forum advise. If nothing else it pays for the tax that is added at the tills.
...
I know it's hot, but do you really want us all to get naked...?
On a serious note, what are voucher booklets and where do you get them?
Thanks:D

I've got young kids and thought about missing out on AK when we go next year, I can't remember much of what was there which to me says there can't be that much worth remembering. Also I think that if you want to see animals you can go to Longleat (UK) or somewhere like that as we get the same kind of animals over here. It's not like at AK the animals are in there natural environment cause they're not. But hey, everyone likes different things! Definitely missing out on Epcot next time!'Money, money, money, must be funny, in a rich man's world!
