It's always worthwhile to rent a car when holidaying in Florida.
If anyone on here advises you not to then ignore them since they don't know what they are talking about.
Sweeping statement Sturll,
A car is not needed but I woudl say reconmended. If you are staying on I drive then you have good transport links anyways with the trolly. To get from Sanfrod to i Drive there are few options
1) rent a car
2) use someone like https://www.caronthedrive.com
3) get a town car from https://www.tiffanytowncar.com and they have rates on their site
4) jump a cab and you can get a quote from https://www.mearstransportation.com
5) take an airport shuttle.
Each vary in price etc. But depending on what you want to do whilst there if you can afford a car in your budget then yes get one as you can have freedom to explore the great state and many great places!
As you are staying on iDrive (not you Sturll but the OP) then also have a listen to the latest episode on Eye on Orlando podcast as we discuss it in great detail (the good and the bad)

For anyone with Kids you need to completely ignore the comments re Animal Kingdom. My kids loved the place, it was their favourite park by a mile.
For me Epcot is boring and probably more suited to Teens, but for young kids AK is brilliant.
If you do go to Epcot then avoid the Honey i Shrunk the Audience - The single biggest waste of time in the whole of Disney World. Absolute tosh.
In terms of Magic Kingdom the only ride i say isn't worth bothering with is Lilo and Stitch.
Disney Hollywood studios is great for all ages, and both waterparks are superb, although Blizzard Beach is more suited for younger kids and Typhoon Lagoon for older.
Epoct is indeed more centred around adults BUT the new Kim Possible activity and the kids fun stops are super. We have great fun with the kids at Epcot so dont discount it, but if time is short and you have kids then it would be last on my list for them.Self confessed Florida expertwith over 320 trips there!

Park at Downtown Disney and get the free bus.
But at only $12 per day i think its reasonable.
You can not get from DTD to the parks on a bus without going via a hotel which wastes time and certainly not worth the 12 bucks you saveSelf confessed Florida expertwith over 320 trips there!

Does anyone have any good info on the most cost effective way of using mobiles in america? I do want to take mine with me, but not sure if I need to get an American sim card or not, and if so, where from..
Is it the same there as it is there.. so I could just buy a pay as you go sim card from a shop and top it up?
Thanks
There has been quite a few posts on this thread abnout the best one to use. Do a search for "tracfone" and you will see the deals. You can buy one for $10 from Walmart and a 60 unit card is $20 which will give you 60 mins of calls to the UK as well. Or go to https://www.paytone.com and get a bizon phone card and use the phone booths in the park BUT Id say the tracfones are best reallySelf confessed Florida expertwith over 320 trips there!

if you only doing the disney parks, you might want to get the passes from the uk as disney do a uk only ticket which is all the parks, with hopping included, and the water parks for a 14 day tickey the 14 day ultimate.0 -
some one asked about how to get free parking? well you cant and this should be included in your costing of the holiday. the only way to get free parking at a disney park is by staying in a disney resort hotel.
you cant catch a bus from downtown disney to a park, you need to go to a resort then wait for the park bus, and then the same to go home.
your daily parking ticket is good for all the parks you visit in the day so if you visit 2 parks keep the ticket and reuse it. @$12 a day that doesnt seem to bad, you would pay that for a few hours parking in the uk.0 -
depends on what parks you want to visit and how long your going for.

If you know you won't want to park hop or use the waterparks, or you only want a few days, it is cheaper to buy them there,2.22kWp Solar PV system installed Oct 2010, Fronius IG20 Inverter, south facing (-5 deg), 30 degree pitch, no shadingEverything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the endMFW #4 OPs: 2018 £866.89, 2019 £1322.33, 2020 £1337.07
