Hi I posted here a few weeks back and didnt really give enough info to warrant any advice.
I am a single parent of an 11 and 7 yr old girls, we want to go to WDW in November ish defo no earlier than end of oct, we are on a budget, but I think if we are sensible with drinks etc and not dining out everynight the I will be able to manage, I know its not everyones cup of tea for a holiday, but as a single parent I dont have an option.
I am so confused as to where to stay, I dont think I would like a villa and car now as I want the kids to mingle more and the option to hop on the transport in the evenings and do a few bits, so that sorts that, I think I would go for the 14 day ultimate so that there is more ease although I think its most expensive hey ho!!
Is it a good idea to purchase a kids dining card $20 I think, and the kid eats free. is this one card per meal per child or not?? a little confused as to whether it last the whole time providing the adult is eating, I think I could feed my daughter a modest meal for less than $20 without feeling like I've missed out.
It's 14 days we are going for, I don't mind the accomodation being budget as I'm planning on the kids being worn out so just a wash behind the ears and straight to bed lol, any advice you could give or any questions I will try to answer, it seems no matter how much research I do Im just at a loss as so much to decide upon.Thriftkitten

1/ Be aware that the 'ultimate' ticket can work out dearer oin a lot of cases than purchasing the Magic Your Way tickets that suit your situation. You can buy MYW tickets at various outlets online, not sure if I can post a link here, feel free to PM me if you want them.
2/ I-drive is the place to stay based on your preferences. Of course there are many, many different hotels there, a lot of variance with regards price. Have you checked out tripadvisor ? That will give you some real pointers. Go there, then type in Orlando, then hotels or forums. Lots of very clued up folk post there.
3/ The kids dining card, isnt that £10 ? I think you need one for each child ( check with your 11 year old, I think it may be kids UNDER 11 ). Also, as far as I am aware, it allows unlimited eating for the child at a participating restaurant for 28 days. The key word there is participating. They do print a list of places that you can use though. Again feel free to PM me for the link.0 -
Just checked the kids dining card age and it says kids 11 and under, so you are ok there
BUT : It also said one child meal free with the purchase of an adult meal, therefore you wont get two childrens meals if you are only buying one adult meal I dont think.
But I'm not an expert on those0 -

As you are not fancying driving, I would suggest you do a split stay on International Drive and either a Disney value hotel or one of the hotels near Downtown Disney.
From I Drive you can use the I Trolley to get around to see Seaworld / Universal and a plethora of eating places. Then you can do the Disney parks when you stay near there.
That's what I'd do anyway!0 -
Just realised I had already replied to you, Thriftkitten. Copied here below but says the same as what I've put above basically:KarenG wrote:
I agree with atro Thriftkitten, we need a little more info please
If you are happy to drive then definitely consider a villa (though I agree this could get a little lonely for you perhaps).
If the thought of driving and navigating at the same time on your own is a bit scary, think about doing a split stay - say five nights on International Drive to do Universal / Seaworld etc, then the rest of the nights onsite at Disney. If you don't fancy the Disney hotels, there are some near Downtown Disney that aren't Disney but would be great for the parks as they have a regular bus service to all the Disney parks, and are walking distance to Downtown Disney, where you can link to the rest of the "world" on Disney's own transport.
I wouldn't hesitate to take my two girls to Orlando on my own - you will have an amazing time.0 -

I will be recording ep 19 of the Disney Brit Podcast on Monday with the team and this week we are looking at Time for a clearout – Rides that have outstayed their welcome at WDW and DLRP.
As usual you normally all have great views on this so it would be excellent if you could post some ideas here for me please.
I just know Adam me and Juz wont agree but lets see.
Thanks
Craig
Please, please don't pick on the WEDway, I mean Tomorrowland Transit Authority, it's my favourite.
For me I'd cut: MK - Country Bear Jamboree and the Enchanted Tiki Room; Epcot - Journey into Imagination (just doesn't work, never has); Studios: Drew Carey's Sounds Dangerous.
In Paris, I'd get rid of the ludicrous tram tour at the studios and the Aladdin alleyway thing. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

When you book through a TA they charge a hotel room per person whereas if you book privately you book by the room!
