Any ideas on where to find a cheap villa booking for end May? We have had our villa cancelled sadly and although we have had a few offers they are still more than we can afford now and also quite out of the way i.e Davenport etc. There are only 4 of us....
maybe too late but try here www.directvillasflorida.com click on the quick enquiry bit on the right an enquiry will go to all property owners. We have used them a few times and always had a great villa.0 -
milliemonster wrote: »Hi everyone, well we have done it, booked our first trip to Florida for June next year, we are going with Virgin and staying in Kissimmee and going for 2 weeks.
What we need to do now is plan which park tickets we will need but there is so much choice and too little time it seems!
We have 2 kids who will be 11 and 7 when we go, we'd like to somehow combine Disney, Universal, discovery cove, kennedy space centre, do any of these include the water parks?
Can anyone advise if these are too much for the time we have available? which would be the best options bearing in mind the ages of our children? I have had a look at the parks but its all mindboggling!
MAGIC KINDOM
EPCOT
HOLLYWOOD STUDIOS
ANIMAL KINGDOM
TYPHOON LAGOON - disney water park
BLIZZARD BEACH - disney water park
the above are all must do disney parks and the other absolute must dos are
UNIVERSAL FILM STUDIOS
ISLANDS OF ADVENTURE
SEA WORLD
the above three parks will be covered by the orlando flexi ticket
BUSCH GARDENS and AQUATICA are awesome parks too but you would have to upgrade to the flexi ticket plus to get admission
with your other excursions your going to be busy busy busy but i guarantee you will all have the time of your lives.
one good tip that saves us a couple of hundred dollars every holiday.... you will all forever be drinking bottles of water as its so humid and at around $3 a bottle at the parks you will spend a small fortune . so what we do is buy one or two of those disney or universal souvenier mugs at the refreshment kioks ( about $8) you can then get FREE iced water all day long and keep using them every day ( obviously only use disney mug in disney and vice versa)
also be prepared to put on a FEW POUNDS as the food poprtions are immence ( eat all you can eat buffets ) along I DRIVE .
our fave was GREAT WETERNS (opposite wet n wild ) i think it was about $12 for an all u can eat . if you wanted you could have 10 steaks 10 chicken breast , as much as u like .every time you finnish eating they keep giving you another plate to fill ... lol . its a basic restaurant but excellent food and phenominal value .
dont bother with evening entertainment/shows . just stay later at the parks to take more in then have your evening meal along i drive and then get ready to SLEEEEEEEEEP !
we use VIRGIN every time too so rest assured you have the best there too . ENJOY !
edit.. if you need more advice on anything about disney/universal /simply go to the DIBB. its the best disney forum on the net and will give you answers to anything you could possibly want to know .0 -
I'm about to book a holiday with Virgin for next year. I spoke to them on the phone and asked about discounts - they mentioned I could get up to a 10% discount by using a Virgin credit card, so I have just applied for one.
Virgin are also doing discounts currently for online bookings.
I'm wondering how to get the best discount - should I book online, or should I book using a virgin CC? Or, does anyone know if I can combine both of these discounts to get even more off? Is it worth me trying to get a better quote on the "beat the package holidays quote" bulletin board
Next, I just need to figure out whether to take the free car offer (and pay the insurances via Virgin), or whether to book a car seperately.
Then there's the theme park tickets. I haven't figured out exactly what I need yet, but in general terms would I be better off booking these via Virgin, or booking them indepently myself?
Thanks - any thoughts very much appreciated !0 -
i was due to go ou to orlando on monday 18 may, just had a phone call from my TA, jetsave have just phoned to say they cant oofer me the original resort (allstars music) as its full up.*we booked this holiday 10 months ago* all they could offer was the allstars sports, which isnt a place we want to stay (we have visited all the allstars and would nevr go to sports as its shabby and old) we told them we weent happy with that, and want eith Pop, musi c or movies (all equivalent ratings) they said they cant as they are full as well! turns out they have only just got round today to book us in with disney music, and obviously this late stage they are full. they have offered us £40(0.5 percent of our total holiday cost!) each if we go to sports , which we really dont want to do, but with only 5 days before we fly out they have us over a barrell, what should we do? i have had a look in tinernet for others but theres nothing avavilable.
Hi Dazzer
That sucks mate and I am sorry to hear that.
some good suggestions already and I woudl strongly suggest playing hard ball. Also take a look around to see who has last min deals on and maybe you cna tell them to poke it and go elsewhere, it is them whoa re in breach of contract at the moment not you.
I presume you had a gteed room? So ask them what they are going to do about it.
Whilst I agree with what you say about sports, you can make it work for you,. Id go touchdown room, get an upgrade and ask for a large perc entage off.

i have a 14 day ultmiate ticket i bought from walt disney direct, what do you want to know?. did you buy a ticket from ebay which was bought on a plane?
as said if its been at all through a disney turnstyle the clock is ticking and has to be used in 14 days. you might be able to phone disney up and see if they could check. just say you have a tickets and want to check the days left on it.
Thanks for replying. The ticket is new and the seller said he & his party had bought their tickets on the flight but had to come straight back from their holiday as there was a death in the family so the tickets weren't used. It looks brand new and printed the same as my own Disney tickets but there is no pale grey strip for the signature as there is on my tickets. The seller had good feedback and seemed genuine so I am sure I am just being over cautious.0 -

I have a villa lined up now and am waiting to pay, but the booking is starting to look suspicous so I will look on that site meanwhile...thanks. I have been to Florida several times without all these problems, not sure why everything is going wrong this year!0 -
Hi everyone,

thanks x:A Carpe diem :AOfficial Market Maven

Here's a wee cry for help, albeit an odd arsed about faced kinda one:)
My family and I always book our digs in advance for Florida, have done now for the last four trips and then the flights as the date approaches. We thought we'd do the same this year, villa is booked, Disney is also booked but then the other day we were on VA's website to book our flights and they're all gone (well all the economy class)! It's always so quiet in September, we've never ever had a problem before and we're checking every day in desperation. Does anyone know whether or not VA hold back X amount of seats on a flight til a specific date or...?
We love flying with VA, mainly due to their generous baggage allowance which means we're able to bring back god knows how much American groceries. I've looked around and I can't really see anyone that really matches them, anyone care to enlighten me?
Also, what are peoples' experiences with flying indirectly? I've been looking into this in desperation and wondered if it was a viable solution..
Continental airlines have the same baggage allowance as VA we have always had a stop at Newark, but we have never had a problen like long flights delays, having to change terminals, I do like the fact you clear customs etc at Newark so when you get to Orlando no customs its just a case of collecting your luggage/car and off you go.0
