not sure who would really cancel their holiday 4 days before going but heho, we got what we had booked so im happy again. i think they were just trying it on, as they know we got a good deal when we booked it (14 nights in allstar music with virgin flights for £1200 for the 2 of us) and i think they were trying to put us in to a lesser value rsort to resell our. but who knows im only guessing. any way im off to pack as leaving for a preholiday holiday in london for a fw days before we fly.0 -
Just got back from Orlando...:( and i want to go back already!!!
Just thought I would pass on some tips that we picked up while there.
If you are staying outside disney and driving in, then I recommend parking at downtown disney and then using there free bus transport to get to your desired park. Yoy do not have to pay to park at d/t disney and the buses are pretty reliable and easy to use...saves you $12 a day.
We got in the habit of taking packed lunches and hiring a locker for the day, if you buy some cheap bottles of water from a supermarket you can freeze them and they stay cold all day in the locker, thus keeping your food cool.
If you hire a car with Satnav, still make sure you have an idea of where you are going, as we still manged to get lost. If you are driving west on interstate 4 and the Sat nav says to come off at juction 64b...There is no 64B....its just 64 and is about 1mile before the satnav tells you to turn off....! Also if you are staying at a villa, our's was a new development and wasn't on the Satnav
There is a disney outlet store at Orlando prime outlets on int drive, so you can get gifts a little cheaper there.
We are planning on another trip next year, as we loved it so much!0 -
unless disney have changed the routes, buses from downtown disney only go to resorts not to parks, to stop that very thing being done by guests.
if you py $12 to park your car at a park and you go to another park the ticket is valid at the second park too. but you cant park at dtd for free then go to a park as the buses dont go that way.0 -
Anyone else know whether you can do this? seems like it has been done re saving car park fee.0

The buses don't run from DTD to the parks only to the disney hotels, so I suppose you could take a disney bus to a disney hotel and then a bus to a park.0
-
The bus goes from downtown Disney to a resort and then onto a park.
imo its a waste of time and would much rather pay $12 to park. But it can be done for free with the buses.
100%
Totally agree. You have to get a bus to the resort first, then wait for another bus to the park you want to go to (then wait again while it drives around the resort or several resorts picking up the other guests). If you are lucky you will get a seat, if not, you won't.Finally the bus will go to the park. In the evening, reverse and repeat but this time with sweaty people
It could add an hour each way onto your day. I've paid far too much for my park tickets to waste valuable time on unnecessary bus journeys, but to each their own.
If you desperately want to avoid paying to park, then look into buying a Disney Annual pass for one person in your party. Do the sums and see if the extra will be worth it; sometimes it can be.0 -
Hi, As a newbie to Orlando, I'm a bit overwhelmed by the staggering choice of theme park tickets...
As someone who has only ever visited theme parks in England, I'm not sure what to expect so I have a few questions (don't laugh, I'm new to this
First, I've seen tickets called park hoppers where you can visit more than one park in one day. But I wouldn't have considered doing this - e.g. if I go to Alton Towers, then I would spend all day there. I imagine the Disney parks are huge, so surely you want to spend all day in a park once there? Would you really want to do 2 or more parks in one day?
To allow time for other parks / excursions, I'm thinking we will visit Magic Kingdom, EPCOT plus one of the Disney waterparks. The cheapest way to do this seems to be buy a "2 day Base Ticket", for the parks which seems to aroud $158 per adult, then I can buy the waterpark ticket seperately. Any thoughts on this?
Disney tickets do seem a tad pricey, if your only other experience is UK theme parks (eg Alton Towers around £30 to £35 per day). But then again I suppose comparing Alton Towers to Magic Kingdom is a completely unfair comparison ??? It's just hard to imagine the scale of it if you've never been !!
Sorry for the all the newbie, naive questions - if anyone can set me straight I'd really appreciate it.0
